**SHAWN'S POV**

"Shawn! Let's go! Dad is getting mad." Aliyah screamed. I turned my head to see her tiny little head peek out of my door frame.

"Ugh! What?" I mumbled into my pillow. I looked to my left and saw the time. "Shit! Shit! Shit!" It was 6:55 and our flight to New York is at 8:00. I'm not even done packing! Aliyah shut the door while I frantically started tearing apart my room. I grabbed 3 more t-shirts and threw them into my luggage bag. I quickly put on my zipper sweatshirt and went into the bathroom to collect my stuff. I came back and looked at the time. 7:05.

Ever since I got signed. I have been flying to and from NYC often to get my first song out. It's coming out in a few days actually.

I grabbed my guitar and carefully placed it in its case. I took my luggage, my backpack (for when I'm walking in the city), and my guitar and put them into the trunk of my dad's car. My dad has been coming with me to the city lately, but this time, my mom wants to come. So, my dad is staying with Aliyah.

"Dad! I'm ready! Let's go!" I yelled when I stepped back into my house. He waddled down the stairs and took the car keys out of his pocket. He smiled and put his arm around my shoulder.

"Bye everyone!" He yelled. "Bye!" I added. With that, we left the house. I'm not sure how long we are going to be in New York. Probably 2 weeks... tops. We got in the car. My dad in the driver and me in the passenger.

"Are you excited?" He asked. "You don't seem it." He started up the engine and took off down our little street. The radio was playing quietly and the sun was just starting to rise.

"Yeah. Of course." I answered with not much excitement. Lately I haven't been myself. I haven't been thinking about Alyssa or anything... well trying not to think about her.

In all seriousness, I was just drained. I was just too tired to function correctly. I pulled the lever on the side of my seat, making it recline back. I closed my eyes and before I knew it, we were at the airport

We got through baggage and customs easily. The first time I flew to New York, my mom and I were in complete disarray. That was hell. My dad and I finally got to our gate just as everyone was getting up to board the plane. We handed the woman our tickets and she quickly scanned them. She grunted and muttered something I didn't understand. My dad must've, because he snatched the ticket back from her and kept the line moving.

We got into our seats. My dad and I got separated. The aisle split us, but I didn't mind. My dad is a "plane sleeper" kind of person anyway. When I sat down in my hard chair, I began to get comfortable. I got out my headphones, my pillow, and my laptop.

The plane began to fill up. People were hustling around to find there seats. Soon enough, my row was almost full. All but the seatbelt to me was taken. I looked around to see anyone coming in my direction. I saw a brunette walking in my direction. She stopped right in front of me and didn't say anything. She stopped, turned, and grabbed her bag and threw it up in the over head.

She had brown, straight, hair. Her summer-tanned skin perfectly matched it. Her small framed face fit her body. She was very pretty. She looked about my age. I wonder why she's flying alone.

"Excuse me." She said. I got up from my seat and left her walk into hers. "Thank you." She finished.

We both sat down. I didn't say anything, but I just kind of stared at her. I didn't stare just at her face or her chest, I just stared at her... in general. I didn't think she'd notice. I was wrong.

"Can I help you?" She asked. She didn't seem annoyed, just curious as to why a stranger is staring at her.

"Oh. Uh- I." I stuttered. "Sorry." I blurted out. I looked away at the floor. I could see her smile from the corner of my eye.

The rest of the flight was awkward. I just faced forward at my laptop screen and had my headphones in. The girl had a book in her hands and intently reading. After 15 minutes, I fell asleep.

I woke up on a soft shoulder. I blinked my eyes open. I swiveled my head left and right, trying to collect my bearings. I was still on the plane, the place where I fell asleep. That's always a good sign.

"What?" I mumbled to myself rubbing my eyes. I heard a giggle of a teenage girl. Oh no. I looked to my side and saw the brown headed girl. I fell asleep on her shoulder!

"Oh my God! I am so sorry!" I was so embarrassed. That was the last thing anyone should do to a stranger. Especially a hot stranger.

"Haha. It's ok. I'm Maya." She stuck out her hand. "Sorry if I sounded rude earlier."

I took her hand and shook. "I'm Shawn. Nice to meet you and no you didn't come off rude at all!" I wanted to keep the flow of the conversation. "Why are flying to New York?"

"Oh, well, I'm visiting my dad." She replied, while tucking a stray hair behind her ear. "You?" She asked.

"I'm recording my song. I'm a singer." I paused. "Well starting to be."

"Wow!" She laughed. "Before you become the next Justin Bieber, can I have your autograph?" She took a piece from the planes magazine, ripping clean off the paper and handed it to me. I grabbed a pen from my bag (why I had one, I don't know) and wrote my name in the nicest script I could.

We talked and talked until the plane finally touched down in New York about 20 minutes later.

"Hey listen." Maya said. "Here is my number. Text me of want to meet up sometime in the city." She handed me another torn piece of magazine paper. I took it. I could help myself from smiling and blushing. I probably looked like I was 2.

"Ok cool! I-" I started to say. I coughed, clearing my throat, and brought my voice down lower, manlier. "Ok cool! I'll see you around."

"Bye!" She said. With that, she grabbed her bag from the overhead compartment and walked off the plane.

"Well," I thought to myself, "that was an awkwardly pleasant plane ride." I grabbed my stuff and woke up my dad. Together, we exited the plane.
