-Chapter 18-
Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I realised my eyebags were getting more and more obvious every day I look at myself. I breathed out a long sigh, I hadnt had a peaceful sleep since the day of the kidnapp. It had been nearly 3 weeks and my dad had not been arrested.
It was hard to do anything, go anywhere without feeling followed and feeling frighten.
"Hey girl!" Kylie and Layla greeted in unison when they entered the washroom where I was.
"Hey twinsies." I said as I walked to class. I loved that nickname for them, only I called them that which made me feel special.
"Guess what!" Layla shrieked.
"What?" I asked, hoping they were not up to something again. The last time they locked Cassandra in the toilet, tried to pour water over Cassie and hid her cheerleading outfit, I didnt trust them so much when they ask questions like this.
"Cassandra quit cheer."
My eyes widened with shock "Twin number one say what?"
"She said Cassandra quit cheer." twin number 2 repeated.
"That is what I thought I heard. Are you serious? Why? Did you guy make her quit? Did you guy pressure her?" I bombarded them with questions. If they said yes to any of it, I would personally kill them.
"No! Why would think so lowly of us." Layla frowned.
"Yeah." Kylie agreed.
"After all those pranks, trust isnt what I would choose to describe you both." I spatted.
"Hurtful much." Layla raised an eyebrow and pretended to be hurt by putting her hand on her chest.
"Your words were like a stab through the heart." Kylie said. "But whatever."
"So! We all have voted you as the new captain." Layla announced.
"Are you excited?" she shrieked.
"Urm. Okay.. I dont know the routine so no."
"You learn fast anyway. So, captain, when is our next cheer practice?" Kylie smiled.
"When are your normal practice time? We'll stick to it. Right now, excuse me for a while." I asked and walked out.
The person I was looking was right in front of my eyes when I came out of the toilet.
"Cassandra!"
"Oh Vannie." she smiled. "I mean Vanessa." she corrected herself.
"You quit cheer?" I said, going straight to the point, not even bothering to greet or whatsoever.
"Yeah. I cant handle it. I need to keep my grades up." she replied.
"Really? You're going to abandon the team just like that?" I frowned, folding my arms against my chest.
"I know they will pick you as captain, and I am pretty sure you will do great."
"Look! I quit cheer so you can be captain and now you are leaving them all of a sudden? Are you crazy? They have basically learned the whole routine and you expect me to just budge in there and change it?"
"You dont have to change anything. I am pretty sure you will learn it fast then you perfect the team."
"You cant just do that!"
"I have no choice, Vanessa."
"You have been keeping your grades all this while, why quit on them now?"
