-Chapter 19-

So, you're saying you got this note from your locker? Cody asked, flipping the note back and front to see if there is any other clue or note on it.

Yeah. That means he is really watching me. He knows my locker too! I started fidgeting nervously and thinking of ways to get out of this situition.

Okay okay. You need to calm down. First we have to tell the police.

Are you crazy? For the record, he might be following us and then become furious when he sees us there. He might even plan an attack immediately! I wanted to scream. He tried a thousand and one ways to keep me calm but to all avail, I started to panic even more.

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. He could even be outside now! Watching us! He knows!

Vanessa! You need to chill. I am pretty sure he doesnt know sign language.

Oh right. Thank god. I said, trying to take deep breaths to calm my speeding heart.

Right now, you have 2 options. 1- Stay safe and be on the lookout 24/7 or 2- you report to the police and see what they can do.

Should I report? He could get really pissed.

I have an idea! His eyes lit up as though a light bulb above him ignited. I'll ask Cameron to report. That way he wouldnt know or suspect you!

I dont know. Cam doesnt know anything about this. In fact no one knows, except you.

You have to trust me on this.

Fine. That seems like a solid and decent plan. Okay.

Alright. I really hope the police get him and this blows over. You look really pale and it is pretty obvious you hadnt been sleeping. You really need the sleep and peace.

I hope so too.

I need to tell you something.

Okay. Sure.

Dont be offended or anything but I am trying really hard to move on. It's just that being here with you doesnt really help with getting over you.

Are you saying that-

Not that I dont care or dont want to help you get through this. I only can do it as a friend. You need another guy. A guy who actually has a chance and is capable of making you feel safe just by his presence. It's like I am getting mixed signals. I know we cant go more than friends but it is like a hope. I cant stop feeling that way until you tell me that there is another guy out there for you.

I-I

To be honest, you need to move on too. Cameron or no Cameron. You have to decide whether you want him back or you like another guy.

Cameron is with Cassandra.

That aint true. Dont you see? Cam still likes you and they dont hang out like a couple. They arent together. I can assure you of that.

I cant decide. With all this drama in my life, it is really hard to choose anything. My life hasnt been going the way I wanted to. In fact it is the totally opposite of everything I expect.

Now, let me stop you there. Nobody has it their way. Life is full of obstacles and if you want it to end well, it all depends on how you adjust to it. Cameron cheated on you. So move on. Move on to another guy who wouldnt. From there, you experienced heart break and you learn from it. You have to see things optimistically. Another example, quiting cheer and giving yourself time to be away from Cassie, you finally forgave her and she is quitting cheer now which means you get to be cheer captain again. Good things come to those who wait.

I sat there with no words to say. Cody was right. There is no use wallowing and being in self pity mood. I had to stand up. I had to face my dad. I had to do something to make sure he gets what he deserve. Also, I had to choose. I cant keep leading them on. My life may be turned upside down because of my dad, I cant do the same to them. They had to know who I pick so that they can move on. The earlier they are told to move on, the lesser the pain they will feel.

Guilt was all I felt at the moment, all fear was flushed away. I had been so selfish, thinking about my horrible life and dragging so many people into it too. I felt so mean and now I had to make things right.

But the question was, who do I choose? Who was right for me? Or do I not choose at all?

Earth to Vanessa.

My mind snapped back into reality and I turned to look at Cody. He had a worried and scared expression plastered on his face as he looked through me. Then I realised that his eyes were actually on the window behind me. With fear and anxiety, I slowly turn my head to see what he was looking at.

A black car.

Out came a big guy all dressed up, he had a earpiece stuck into his ear as he stood by the passenger seat car door, seaching his surrounding, as though he was looking to see if anyone was around. He looked really suspicious and both of us watched as he did a last double check before opening the car door. Cody stood up and headed towards my phone. He handed it to me and ordered me to keep 911 ready.

I nodded and did as was told.

The doorbell. I signed.

I'll get it. You stay put. He said and went to get the door.

I heard a hello and oh you are deaf. And then a I need my translator.

"I am looking for a Vanessa."

Silence.

"He says he doesnt know what you are talking about." The translator said.

"Vanessa. The girl who is supposingly staying here."

There was a lapse of silence again.

"He says he needs to know why you are here."

"Look boy, I dont have all the time in the world to play foolish games with you. She is in great danger."

There was another moment of silence as Cody signed an answer.

"What can you do about it?"

"You didnt deny. That proves that Vanessa is here. Move aside boy." He ordered sternly and pushed Cody aside. I gasped as I watch come in, my heart pounding inside of me. My eyes scanned the house for a place to hide but they came in faster than expected.

"Vanessa." He said and I stood there like a block of wood. No reaction came from me as I waited for him to introduce himself and tell me why he was here.

"I'm Mr Winston and I am here to help you." he said.

My eyes widened with shock and I did a double take at his name.

Mr Winston...
