Chapter 30

I will no longer detail how I told my family about what happened. I heard all kinds of insults from my relatives but in the end, my mother understood how important this is to me. She supports me on my decision.

I wasn't able to go to school for a few days so when I finally come, I see my classmates waiting for me. They all greet me and wait for someone to open up the topic.

"Is it true?" Of course, Dessa addresses the elephant in the room.

"What is?" I ask.

"You're getting married to Yugyeom?"

I had thought they will ask about Yugyeom's sickness but they seem to know more than that.

"Hey, Y/N, answer! We're all getting crazy since last night! Tell us everything! I thought you said you guys are done? What happened? How did he propose?"

I pry her fingers off my arm. I know she's excited but this isn't something I can just say.

"Wait. I just have to make a call," I say and before she can protest, I dialled Yugyeom's number. It just keeps on ringing. Even his sister is out of reach. Good thing I also have Mrs. Kim's number.

"Y/N? I'm sorry; we're at the hospital right now."

"What? Mrs. Kim, what happened?" Everything seems to just stop.

"He was having headaches since last night and this morning, it got severe. We immediately took him here for an examination."

"I'll go there."

"You don't have to. You have to go to school and this is too far. Don't worry, he's stable. He just needs to go through some tests then we'll go home."

"But I have some things to talk about with you," I insist.

"We can talk on Sunday. Focus on your studies first. Don't think about it much."

"The doctor is here. I'll call you later."

The call ended.

"Who is it? Why are you so worried?" Dessa asks.

"Dess, I know you're curious but can I leave for now? I don't think I can say anything clearly for now," I tell them.

"Are you okay? Do you have to go somewhere? I can go with you."

"I'll be fine. You can all go to your classes," I assure her.

They leave me one by one after giving me a tap of support. I try to smile at them but it freezes when Aileen comes up.

"I'm sorry if we kept it a secret," she says. So she knew.

"I'm sure it was for good cause. Thank you for everything, Aileen. I know it's also hard for you."

"Not as hard as what you're going through right now. If ever you need someone to listen, I'll be here."

I hug her. "Thank you."

"Thank you too. I thought you'd get angry at me. We hurt you."

"But it wasn't true right? You acted so he'll stay away from me?"

She smiles. "By the way, it was Yugyeom's mom who told us you're getting married. She and my mom are friends. I wish you all the best."

With that, she gives me one last smile before walking away. Her eyesanswered my question. She truly fell for him.
