~ Chapter 9 part 2

Sam pov

Tonight.

The sky was darkly clouded above me as I stuffed my cold hands into my hoodie pockets. I was taking George’s offer…. And I had no idea if it was a good choice to make or the wrong one.

But I guess I’ll find out… I thought as I continued to walk down the street where most people got either mugged or kidnapped. The road was cracked, some houses had even built metal bars over their doors and glass windows. I swallow as I bend my head down low, hoping to stay out of anybody else’s view.

‘Relax man! You just have to prove yourself worthy, it’s simple… deliver the package, get the money and return it to the boss. Got it?’ his arm was slung over my hunched shoulders and I rolled my eyes. ‘Yeah… I’ve got it’.

This was Jay…. Apparently he was assigned to me for the job (if I get it), and had to kind of supervise if I’m good enough. He had very dark skin, with bright outstanding teeth. He was bold and wore jeans that barely made it over his ass. Chains hanging from the belt loops, and a built up enough upper body to look menacing but still lean.

But once he opened that mouth of his….. your perception of him fades almost instantly.

‘You nervous?’ he asks his arm back to his own body, now walking with a swagger that told me he knew exactly what he was doing and could do it while sleeping. I glance around me once more making sure no one was stalking us or something, and spot a little figure peak at us from a window behind bars. I see the curtains immediately slide back as she disappears before I could really register anything else from the house across the street. ‘No… not really. I’m not the nervous type’ I reply easy going, bending my head down to watch my feet  not the houses.

‘Huh…’ Jay in turn replies, doing a once over of me again. ‘You live in a gym or something?’ he asks, amusement slipping into his tone. I shake my head. ‘Nah… I use to earn money by cage fighting….’ His expression tells me everything, ‘I have scars all over my body if ya want me to prove it’ Jay quickly shakes his head in answer adding ‘Nah man it’s cool… just curious’ this tilts the corners of my mouth up.

We find ourselves out the front of a large looking backyard shed, with overgrown grass bordering it in a field. ‘Okay I’ll go inside first then you follow… pull it out if it comes to it’ he instructs and walks through the door around the side. I glance down at my hips where the gun is stuffed half way down my pants under my hoodie....

The black metal shed was filled with folded out plastic tables, lined with machinery, bullets and who knows what. Around about twenty thugs overlooking it all. They all seemed to have the same tattoos up their left arms, of a howling black wolf. The shed was dim lighted, and a couple of men were smoking up at the back. A stereo joined them playing obnoxiously loud music, as they blew soft smoke up to the ceiling.

‘Gray! Turn that F***ing music off… nobody likes your taste!’ a guy shouted over everyone as the nearest one turned it down, and the guy advanced onto us.

‘Well if it isn’t Jay from Fifth Street…. Haven’t seen you in a couple of months, thought you were dead’ the one snickered putting out a cigar. He walked with a limp in his jeans outfit that you would only pick up if you paid enough attention. He looked to be in the early thirties I would guess. A sneer on his face making him look unattractive.
