Chapter 12
Voicemail was now my new friend. Sad but true as I press end for the fifth time today. Jake wasn’t talking to me, I had tried calling him so often that I drove over to his house in Dan’s car. But even his dad told me to stop calling that Jake would come around soon enough. It was clear that his dad didn’t know everything about the incident though.
I sigh placing my phone back down beside me on my bed, as I stared out the front window. My hands tighten with each other as I thought about how I got here, and coincidently Ashton’s face comes to mind.
How the hell did Ash find out?
I couldn’t help but push down the anger and torment I was experiencing, having nowhere to put it to use…. Until an idea slipped it’s way to the front.
I grab my phone again and text Adam: Hey can I come by the warehouse?
Sure, when?
Like nowish….?
Lol, I’m not going to be here in a few minutes but I can leave you a key?
I thought about it for a moment before quickly texting him back.
When I got to the warehouse I looked around the dumpster and luckily found a key where Jake texted it would be. I use it to unbolt the door, and then walk the lonely halls by myself. It was kind of eerily quiet, but I just continued on because Jake had told me no one would be in here for a few hours.
Which was great for me.
I placed my bag on the bench and unzipped it to start getting undressed. I changed into some grey slacks that hung low on my hips, and a tight black tank top. I wore a sports bra and tied my hair up in a high ponytail, so it was out of the way.
I leave my feet bare and walk over on the mats and tie my dad’s old boxing gloves on my hands. I stretch them inside the gloves, seeing how they fit and grin.
I roll my shoulders back and breathe out slowly focusing on the texture of the bag.
Ok Emily… the punching bag is Ash. Give him what he deserves, let it all out!
I open my eyes and pull back my right arm. I start to punch the bag fiercely and only got even angrier with my growing momentum. My mind started clouding over everything else and was only focused on the bag and the thoughts running through my veins powering each hit.
‘Does he hate me that much!’ I yell punching the bag hard. ‘I was just his trophy…’ I twist my hip and power a kick to the punching bag. ‘Now Jake won’t talk to me… because I did nothing’ I breathe heavily from exertion but don’t stop for long.
Ash will tell coach some lie to get Jake kicked off the football field, his scholarship dreams will be crushed, his self-esteem will be shattered, he won’t trust in anyone anymore…… my best friend will be gone.
