Skylar: What do you think about washed denim jeans over my shoulder? :D
[Skylar]
Dear Mrs. de Vreis,
I am writing to announce my resignation from Lockwood Primary School, effective at the end of 2015 - 2016 school year, last day being 14th of July.
I wish the school good luck in future endeavours and thank you for providing a positive environment for both professional and personal development during the past year. I have enjoyed working for the school and appreciate the support provided during my time at this school.
If I can be of any help during this transition, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Skylar Dawn Cook
"I will keep this for a week before sending it through to processing. Please let me know if you change your mind Skylar, the school really benefits from your restless work ethic." Mrs. de Vreis, the headmaster says with a bittersweet smile on her face. Her glasses now on top of the desk as she appears to be upset from my resignation.
"Thank you for your on-going praise and support, the staff and I are all very appreciative of it, but I think primary education leaves more to be desired in terms of emotional connection with my students." I give her an encouraging smile. My internship in the all-boys boarding school was much more challenging but also fulfils me in achievement in a totally different way.
"Well, please let me know if I write up a letter to any of the schools you apply to. You are an invaluable talent in the teaching field and I wish you all the luck from here on out." She shakes my hand while I stand after her.
I leave her office with a small frown on my forehead. This is a hard decision to make, so many things are unknown but I'll have to work through it no matter what happens.
As soon as I step out of the administrative office area, I get a very hasty looking Alexander trailing me. His frown hanging loud and proud on his face. "What happened? I've heard talk that you are resigning!" His tracksuit pants ruffling as I pull to a slow stop with him now in front of me.
Out of the corner of my eye I catch the amazing shine of a ring that I cannot even begin to imagine the cost of. "Oh... I was going to keep it a secret until later, it's only May now anyway." The spring breeze washes through the two open windows. Alexander's frown eases a little bit.
"Damn... I can't believe Mr. Cookie is leaving..." He sighs exasperatedly and looks around with a hand in his hair, the same ring shining from the indirect sunlight diffused through the frosted glass windows. Alexander lays his hands on my shoulder and smiles sadly, almost enough to make me revoke my resignation. "I'm going to miss you around school..."
I laugh nervously, "It's not as if we are never seeing each other again! We still live in the same town!" I wave him off, resisting the urge to hug him. Alexander has been so nice to me since the beginning, teaching me the ins and outs since he has been around for a few years now.
From his other hand without the ring, he presents to me a small purple envelope. "This... umm..." He scratches his neck, "It's a wedding invitation... my fiancé has heard stories about the fabled legend about a man with a paper bag of candy."
I look at the envelope with a strange foreign warmth in my heart. I suppose I've never witnessed a live marriage, it would be a great honor. And I voiced those words to Alexander, "T-thank you... I never thought you think of me so highly..."
