"Ow ow my hand!" I whine.
She's not even listening. I don't think she's paying attention to anything right now but the doctor.
We're racing down pale halls following this man, and I've already shared with her the many reasons we'd be much safer back in the room.
She replied 'I need answers'.
Now don't get me wrong, a big part of me wants answers too, but another big part of me is shaking in fear. Namely, my entire skeletal system.
We turn a corner that's identical to the millions we've turned before, but this time I nearly smash my nose onto the back of her head as she stops abruptly.
"All the answers you want, are in here" The doctor jams his index finger on the side of his head quite aggressively,
"And everything that's in here,"
The bottom of the wall behind him starts moving upwards
"Is on here"
It's the largest screen I've ever seen. And every inch of it is covered in tiny green lettering.
"That's coding for the computer in our room." she says, clearly trying to infuse confidence into her voice.
The doctors face lights up,
"Yes it is!" He looks at us in that creepy way again, like he gets lost or distracted by our presence.
He snaps back, blinks very quickly and starts to explain everything on the screen to us.
It's all tech stuff and incredibly hard to keep up with, besides, the fact we were finally in new surroundings was way too distracting.
Since the doors here were hidden, I wondered how many other rooms like ours there were, and wether there was anyone else held here against their will.
"Any questions?"
My eyes grab focus and I kick myself mentally because I most likely zoned out on information that probably decides my fate.
"So are you gonna like, experiment on us or something?" I ask, my voice quieter than I had wanted.
"Well yes, but not in the way you're thinking, Gerard"
For a dumb moment I wonder how he knows my name.
I really need to pay more fucking attention.
"You see, you two are the rarest of the rarest of humans. In your personality traits, in your brain capacities and in your DNA.
Indigo children, I call you.
Now, I have spent lifetimes creating the cube as a safe haven for precious beings as yourselves, since all the world seems to do is shun you and underestimate you. Here, you are treated and taken care of the way you should be. You are safe, fed, cleaned, rested in all the right ways and right amounts, so it is never something you have to worry about. All I ask in return is that you help me make the whole world, like you."
"How? Like, what do we have to do? Give you our brains?" Y/N asks,
The doctor giggles away again, "goodness no! I just need to record the ways you deal with things, the way you react to things, so I can genetically engineer DNA cells to do the same, then we let embryos do their thing, and soon we'll have an entire indigo community! For now however, it's just me and you. But we will make the most of it, rest assured"
He smiles again and I could've sworn his eyes glazed over before he strode away again down the hall.
"What do you mean by make the most of it? Where are you going! We don't know this place" she yells out behind him.
"Follow me, children. I've been so excited at having you here, I forgot our tea!"
She looks at me with quite a funny 'what the fuck?' expression on her face. We follow him regardless.
"What do we call him, anyways?" I whisper to her.
From a good 10 feet ahead the jumpy man turns around and happily states:
"Oh! By the way, I'm Doctor Cillian Murphy!"
