Chapter Six
Lauren sighed, and leaned back into her chair. "Well, I'm not sure if you want to know how old I am-" She didn't finish because Tom's face turned a nice shade of green. We all looked at him with amusement. "Something wrong Tom?" Ali laughed.
Lauren smirked and stood up. Watching her walk hurt my eyes. She was graceful, as a vampire should be I guess...
She glided over to Tom and patted his shoulder. "It's alright, Tom." She smiled. Then closed her eyes and seemed to be thinking incredibly hard. Suddenly Tom seemed alright. His face was green, he was completely calm. A first for him.
"We'd love to hear every bit of your story, Lauren." His eyes glazed over.
She patted his cheek and made her way back to her desk and the big leather chair. She sat down and put her feet up on the desk.
I looked over to Tom, who was silent. "Whoa," I said aloud. "What did you do to make him shut up?"
Lauren folded her hands together, and smiled. "Oh, just a mind trick all vampires can do."
Georgia glared at her. "Well, take it off of him." She crossed her arms.
Me and Ali held up our hands at the same time. "Whoa-whoa-whoa." Ali said. I finished, "Let's just leave the mind control thing on him for a while." I smiled weakly to Georgia.
Georgia frowned. "How about we don't?"
Ali turned to Lauren. "Can you put some mind control on her?" All honesty in her voice.
"Ali!"
"Sure," Lauren shrugged.
I rolled my eyes. "Don't." I turned to Georgia. "We all know we'll get things done faster with Tom being silent." I arched up an eyebrow.
Georgia frowned and looked down. "Fine." She grumbled.
I clapped my hands together. "Great!" I faced Lauren, "Please continue."
Lauren frowned. " It isn't a pleasant story."
"Tell us anyways."
She grimaced and leaned back into her chair again. "I was born in the midst of a revolt of Chinese dynasties. Believe me, all that corruption was not a way to raise a child. It was a very long time ago. I was born sometime in the 12th century. I'm not sure exactly what year. My upbringing was defiantly horrible because all the labor going on back then." Her glazed over as if she was imagining it perfectly. I'm sure she was.
"Also, my mother had died in child birth. And My father wasn't around much he was always working. Actually, more like slaving away. Thankfully, I did have an older sister, and a brother. Sadly, my brother died at the age of nine." She wiped a tear that was forming at her eye. "Thankgod we didn't live in the part of china where they killed the baby girls." She wiped another tear.
"One day, while me and my sister were growing rice, a very pristine man, you know well dressed, on a horse. But he looked like he had a horribly mean face." She shuddered. "I still remember that perfectly. Before I knew it, he grabbed my sister by the arm...and" She wiped a lot more tears. "Took her away."
"I didn't know what was happening. I was only ten. I tried following them, yelling at the man harshly to give me back my sister. He grimaced at me and said, "Stupid girl, you'll pay for what you are saying to me." I didn't know that this man was very powerful. He grabbed me by the arm as well and dragged me and my sister by the horse."
"We came to a very fancy house. More like a palace actually. He threw me into a dark place. A dungeon. I never saw my sister or my father again. Actually I saw my sister once, she snuck down to see me, and she was wearing a beautiful Chinese dress, and jewellery. It made me cry because they would only fee me twice a day. Like I was a dog." She spat. Instead of tears she started to look angry. "She said that the powerful man had made her his wife. I didn't know why. Although she was very pretty..." Her voice trailed off.
