Chapter three
Good news was: Conrad was okay. Bad news: We were probably going to die.
I was trying to accept it. Vincent was unstoppable. If I was lucky I could convince him just to kill me and not Conrad. But probably not.
But of course there was what Vincent had told me the day he hurt Conrad.
Only a vampire hunter could kill me. So that meant All I had to do was find a vampire hunter. Interesting. But totally impossible! Were goners.
But maybe, just maybe, I find one. And then all I have to do is locate Vincent. Which made me think. I mean what are his parents thinking? Are they helping Vincent? Are they trying to stop him? Do they know? And If they know, do they even care?
Which led to another thought. Are Vincent's parents...vampires too? Can vampires conceive? Or did they just bite Vincent when he was the age he was now, and claim him as their own? Man, was this creepy stuff I was thinking about.
"Dana! Someone is here to see you!" My mother called up to me. My mother, it would crush her if i died. My brother Lucas is the Devil Child, he would be dancing around in circles. And he would be no help to my mother. God. Why couldn't Vincent be hunting Lucas?
But I didn't really mean that. Okay, maybe a little. But Lucas was only fifteen. It was a little brother's job. I was seventeen. The perfect age to die.
"Who is it?" I yelled back.
"Georgia and her boyfriend!" My mom called back at me. Wait. Georgia and Tom? Holy crap. I hadn't talked to her in days. She must be pissed. But hey I had a lot on my mind.
"Coming!" I jumped off my bed and flew out of my room. When I got to the beginning of the staircase, I swung myself onto the banister and slid down. When I came to the foot of the staircase my mom had a disapproving grimace on her face.
"Dana, how many times-" I cut her off. "Do I have to tell you. No sliding on the banister. I've heard it many times mom. No need to repeat it. Let's face it, I'm not going to learn." I skipped over to Georgia and Tom and smiled.
"Heeeeyyyyyyy..." I looked at their faces. They were not happy.
"Hello Dana." Georgia's voice was cold.
I looked over to Tom, who was bent over his new PSP. I heard little explosions vibrating from the tiny machine. "What's up Tom?"
He looked up with eyes like he hadn't slept in days. "my girlfriend complaining about you not calling in days."
"Oh. Umm...Georgia I'm really sorry. I had a lot on my mind." I smiled sheepishly. She did not return the favour.
"your sorry? Sorry? Dana you haven't talked to me in days! How did you think I felt hearing about Conrad's accident from Ali? ALI! She's not your best friend, I should have known!" I sighed. Ali was another close friend of me and Georgia, I knew that Georgia loved Ali like a sister, but sometimes, like a sister, she would use Ali as the blame for things.
"I didn't tell Ali anything. I haven't spoken to both of you in days. I've been really busy."
"Like I'm going to believe that. I got freaked out when I hadn't heard from you. Do you know the first thing that I thought when you hadn't called me back? I thought of Sabrina." Georgia crossed her arms.
I immediately was furious. And my attention was fully on the conversation. Even Tom looked up from his game.
"How dare you bring Sabrina into this?!" Sabrina used to be our best friend. Then one day she disappeared. Like she really was gone. Her parents brought in the police, They searched for weeks. But she was never found. This happened last year, and Georgia, Ali, and I tried very hard not to ever think about her. So I couldn't believe that she would bring Sabrina up like that.
