Chapter twenty three
Dana's P.O.V.
"How do you even turn into a vampire again?" Ali asked in the car.
I rolled my eyes. After she had gotten over the whole slap thing, she had started asking more questions to Lauren. It was getting on everyone's nerves. Except...this question was kind of interesting.
"Didn't I already tell you that?" Lauren snapped.
Ali shrugged. "Can't remember. Just tell me."
Lauren sighed, and gripped the steering wheel. She had insisted on driving, she said that Tom wouldn't know where to go.
"Give them some vampire blood. Then, they have to feed on a human. It's pretty easy actually." She said to the road in front of her.
Ali frowned, like she wanted an answer that was more exciting than that. "Can a vampire turn back into a human?"
It was the question we were all wondering. Yet, Lauren froze. Only her hands kept moving on the wheel. "That's a very sensitive subject."
Ali pushed it. "Come on. Please."
Lauren sighed, and closed her eyes...like it was very hard for her to talk about this. "You...need to kill the vampire who turned you. Then, drink their blood. It's the process of turning into a vampire, only its backwards." She said harshly.
Tom fiddled with his ipod, and plugged the headphones in, obviously very uncomfortable. Georgia started playing with her hair, and Ali frowned.
I just sat there, not saying anything. Except, I still needed to know...
"Why is that so difficult?" I asked suddenly, I knew it was rude, but the words came stumbling out of my mouth before I could stop them.
Lauren turned her head around and glared at me. "It is HARD, because you're killing the person who you love the most! Of course it's difficult!" She shrieked at me.
Instead of being embarrassed, I felt...confused. Why would you love the person who took you away from your life? How is that possible?
"What?" Georgia asked the same time I did.
Lauren's eyes widened, as she realized what she had revealed. She seemed, like...she didn't want us to know something...something important.
It was too late though. Not a thing on this planet could get Ali to not ask questions. Lauren was doomed to tell us the truth. "What? Tell me! You have to tell me what you know!" Ali exclaimed.
Lauren bit her lip, and turned her attention back to driving. "It's just...uh, you get morally attached to the person who turned you. It's just hard to kill a friend. Right?" She smiled nervously.
There was still something she wasn't telling us. I was sure of it.
Ali seemed satisfied with this answer, so she dropped it.
But I KNOW that something is extremely wrong here. And I have to find out, before we find Vincent.
Because this piece of information she's hiding from us, could kill us in the end. And I'm afraid, that's what Lauren's really wants.
Vincent's P.O.V.
"Another two days before they arrive in our hiding place in the woods. I have to give this vamp credit. She's a good sniffer." Tessa nodded, impressed.
I was on the verge of hysteria. Which I know, is ridiculous because vampires shouldn't get emotional about anything. It wasn't in the legends.
Yet, there I was. Pacing back and forth across the condo, almost to the point of breathing into a paper bag.
