Dead-Note: the Netflix Movie

OKAY I'VE KEPT THIS AS A DRAFT FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW AND I REALLY NEED TO GET THIS OUT OF MY CHEST (as well as my bra but that's off-topic), so sit, get popcorn and get ready for this huuuuge rant (3,350-somthing words).

I know, I know  "It's not dead note it's DEATH NOTE". But seriously, this movie, killed the original merchandise and fucked it up to the point of killing it. Death note died, rest in peace, I'll remember you as one of the greatest animes I've watched. OH SAY CAN BY THE DAWN'S EARLY LIIIIIIGHT! (I can't sing the Mexican anthem bc you guys would relate :'v)

I think it's unnecessary to say this but I'll say it anyway, this post contains spoiers from both the Netflix Movie, and the original anime which is really good and I wholeheartedly recommend you to watch.

First I'd like to say this won't be just a rant, because I find ranting about how bad this movie is as an adaptation and movie alone (despite it'd be completely reasonable) would be really tiring for me to write and probably for you guys to read. So I'll touch good things this movie had and stuff I find funny.

Death Note is by far one of the best animes I've watch and certainly beats a lot of american shows I am fond of. Because it's smart and puts your brain to work with every episode. The dramatic scenes, characters complex way of thinking, and the plot alone makes this a very fucking savage masterpiece of supernatural criminal minds.

Now. Here comes the salt.

In the Death Note movie Light Turner (I was expecting Ryuk to look like a fairly odd parent by this point) is an fairly smart student who gets paid to do other people's homework. Because of course, a teen who wants to be sucessful in life and go to a good university would risk to help dum-dums with their math homework, because that makes a lot of sense.

Here, Light lost his mother because some murder shit I think? I didn't quite got other that just that he wants revenge. In the movie Light's character is so weak that they have to give him a motivation to want to change the world. He isn't a cold perfect genius who finds the chance to rip the world out of evil in his immature perspective of justice, no here he will be an avenger and killed the bastard who killed his mommy.

Light Turner gets really carried away with his emotions. Light Yagami did lost it from time to time, and had really psychotic lapsus overall the anime. But he wouldn't have let anyone NEVER, EVER see him getting into a fist fight (L aside) knowing that would get him in troubles MUCH LESS GET IN A FIST FIGHT AGAINST THE SCHOOL BULLY BECAUSE THAT IS SOMETHING A GENIUS WOULD DO. Also he wasn't just a school nerd, he was stronger than he looked like so he probably wouldn't have been knocked out with the first punch. Honestly, that was really sad.

But boom boom, he gets detention and a black eye. Congrats Turner, somewhere Light Yagami is very, very proud of you /)_-

Here's when the plot-line starts and things get even worse. He opens the Death Note to find people wrote notes of their own discoveries as rules for the next owners, instead of Ryuk who wrote just the basic and proceeded to let the humans guess the rest. The first rules are pretty much what I explained so far. Then he sees the name lists which as a thing in favo this death note was a bit more realistic because we could tell people before Light used it before him.

And then this shit gets an horror scene, marbles fall "OH NO!" Light goes to check and BAM POW WHAM a wild Ryuk appears. This, is probably my favorite scene okay. In the anime, Light screams and falls when Ryuk appears alright, but it's just one yelp of surprise before going back to the cold wicked motherfucker mood I love but in the Death Note movie, well...
