Kroyto snaked through the undergrowth. He was in the middle of the only forest that Aphron could take him to that was in flying distance without him becoming tired. He was invisible since he didn't want any prey seeing him. He tasted the air and detected life.

He swiveled his head around and saw a creature with a fluffy pelt with long claws. It's eyes were covered in scales and it's muzzle was flat and plain. Kroyto wasn't sure what it was but he didn't mine. He lowered into a battle crouch with his neck coiled into his shoulders. He licked his lips.

He stalked forward but his paw snapped against a stick and broke it. Kroyto growled to himself and saw the creature lift it's head and look around. It couldn't see him and Kroyto was very thankful. He let out a breath of relief as the animal continued feasting on the grass.

Kroyto continued forward and kept his tail stuck out straight so it didn't graze the ground. He tried to keep his paws light but they weren't nearly as light as Aphron's paws. He grumbled to himself but didn't let his anger show. He just pushed forward and blinked his eyes, pleased that he was invisible to everyone.

Once he was close enough he leaped for the creature. He came up short since he didn't have a great leap. The creature screeched and it jolted Koyto. He turned back to being visible and his eyes widened in shock. He landed with a thud and the creature let out a breath and spikes jutted from it's once soft fur.

"I'm not sure you are the best thing to eat," fretted Koyto as he hauled himself to his paws and stood across from the strange looking creature. The creature prowled closer, snarling.

Koyto then surged forward and clawed at the creature's face. The creature didn't like that at all. It turned and lashed it's whip like tail against Koyto's face splitting open his nose and watched in awe as blood dripped out. The creature then leaped and clawed at Koyto's throat.

Koyto gasped as dagger like teeth ripped into his fur and flesh on his throat. He fell to the ground and gasped as the creature used it's full body weight. "Help! Help!"

With a snarl Aphron surged forward, hearing Koyto's wail of terror. He saw the creature attacking Koyto and he bared his teeth. "Leave my son alone," he snarled as he sunk his fangs into the back of the creature's neck. The creature screeched and tried to claw and jab it's spikes into Aphron's chest. Aphron was quicker and smarter than the creature though and he threw it against the ground.

"You messed with the wrong wolf," Aphron muttered to the creature as he pushed a paw against the creature's skull crushing it. He drew back and licked the blood from his pads. "Those little Shicks are awful to catch but taste amazing when you can pull those spikes and scales from it."

"Yeah well it's a lot deadlier than I thought," muttered Kroyto as he tried to groom his paws with swift strokes of his tongue.

Aphron's eyes softened as he strode toward and touched his nose to Kroyot's ear. "Usually prey doesn't fight back like this."

"What should I do if it does again," asked Kroyto, knowing that Aphron wouldn't always be around to save him. He also didn't want him to since that would make him weak.

"Remember this," replied Aphron as he sat down and wisdom shown in his eyes. "Claws can slice and dice flesh but fangs can kill."
