Joe wandered downstairs the following morning after a quick shower and finishing off the small bit of homework he didn't get done the right before. He entered the kitchen where Denise was cooking breakfast for her sons like she normally would be at this time. She did every morning despite her sons telling her that she didn't need to. She just wanted them to be energized for school.

"Morning mom." Joe greeted pouring himself a glass of orange juice before he sat down at the table.

"Good morning Joseph, have you been thinking over night?" Denise questioned and Joe sighed.

"My feelings haven't changed over night mom." Joe answered.

"Do you really think that this is possible?" Denise inquired.

"No but I'm thinking I really want to give it a go. If we give the baby up for adoption it's just the easy way out. Especially for me, Demi will still have to go through it all just to give the baby up," Joe shrugged his shoulders gently. "I thought you'd want me to step up to my responsibility and whatnot."

"Not if it's going to ruin the rest of your childhood, you're still a kid Joe. You both don't know how much you're lives are going to change if you have this baby together." Denise urged.

"No, we probably don't but we still want to give it a shot, why won't you and dad see that. And Demi's parents too, she wants to be a mom just as much as I want be a dad." Joe urged this time.

"Because we want you to have your lives, we want the baby to have a decent upbringing. Being parents at fourteen is not suitable." Denise demanded.

"Oh so you don't think we're gonna be good parents?" Joe questioned.

"I didn't mean it like that Joseph." She replied setting a plate in front of him with a couple of pancakes on.

"Well that's what is sounded like, gee thanks for the faith mom." Joe mumbled getting up and he left the room with his plate and his orange juice. He ignored his mom as she called after him but he didn't turn back. He sat in the living room eating his breakfast whilst watching the TV but he couldn't pay attention to it too much. He felt like his mind was racing.

Joe quickly covered Shane's mouth with his hand before he had an outburst but he pushed him away slightly. Not to make him fall over but just to get him off him and Joe stood up straight again fixing his bag over his shoulders.

"Demi is pregnant?" He spoke a little quieter and Joe nodded his head gently.

"I'm only telling you because you're my best friend. Nobody else needs to know until it's necessary. We're gonna get the teasing of a lifetime when the whole school finds out. Especially Demi and she doesn't need that on top of everything else." Joe urged.

"Why what's happening? Is the baby not healthy or something." Joe shook his head gently.

"No he or she is fine but our parents are pretty much forcing us to give the baby up for adoption. But we want to try and be parents at least. Adoption is something we can think about afterwards if we can't cope." Joe replied in a low voice still, there were a few students about in the hall but he doubted they were listening. He couldn't take the risk.

"Wow," Shane replied. "What is it like?"

"What?" Joe questioned confused.

"Sex." He stated and Joe laughed shaking his head at his best friend. He never regretted what they shared a couple of days ago even if it did create their baby which was becoming a bit of a fight for him.

"We're not girls dude," Joe answered. "But it's pretty good." Shane laughed.

"You do know you're probably one of the only guys who have lost it. We're only fourteen though so I guess that is a good thing." Shane shrugged his shoulders.

"I know but both Demi and I thought it was the right time. We've been together for four months and I know we're in love. We just wanted to have that connection." Joe replied.

"I did not need the details." Joe laughed about to speak again when he felt a hand on his back turning around and he saw Demi. She had a bit of a worried expression on her face.

"What's wrong?" He questioned scared there was something wrong with the baby.

"Can I talk to you alone?" She breathed and Joe nodded his head gently taking hold of her hand saying goodbye to Shane before he led her to an empty corridor. It was still early so the school wasn't overly full yet.

"What's wrong?" Joe repeated.

"I-I think we should give the baby up for adoption." Demi stated looking up at him.

"What? I thought we both wanted to be parents to our baby?" Joe inquired and Demi took in a deep breath.

"No, I've changed my mind. Our parents are right, we're too young." Demi urged.
