"Still grounded?" Joe heard and he turned his head seeing his best guy friend, Shane, stood there. Joe closed his locker beginning to head down the hall but he wasn't surprised when Shane followed him. They had homeroom together so he would probably stick around until they headed there.
"Yep, for another month yet." Joe complained. He knew his parents would never back down. They never did with punishments.
"What did you even do, why won't you tell me?" Shane questioned.
"Because you don't need to know." Joe replied shoving him slightly but Shane managed to keep his balance walking back next to Joe again. Joe knew he'd never live it down if Shane really knew what he and Demi had done. He knew they were young to have done it but he still didn't regret it now.
"Well whatever you did Demi must have done something too because nobody has seen Demi around either." Shane smirked slightly and Joe rolled his eyes at him.
"Alright, we didn't come back from curfew on time. We fell asleep in the tree house and we got told off for it."
"And they grounded you for two months for it? Demi three?" Shane questioned and Joe shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm not gonna question my parents parenting." Joe replied.
"I'm still upset you won't even showed me this tree house, by the way." Shane complained and Joe laughed.
"I promised Nick and Kevin that it would be our secret and I broke that once by showing Demi. They'd kill me if I showed anyone else." Joe answered stopping outside their homeroom class.
"I'm still upset," Shane pouted and Joe rolled his eyes again. "If I kiss you and make you fall in love with me will you show me?"
"No, I'll punch you in the face." Joe answered and he laughed.
"Won't you just do that anyway?"
"We'll see." Joe replied and they both laughed.
__________
Joe spent the first part of the school day in classes but Demi hadn't been in his classes. He thought it was weird not to have seen her at all though. They usually made sure they crossed paths on the way to next lessons. It was now lunch and Joe was sat on a table alone with Shane picking at his food.
"This sucks," Joe mumbled. "If I had my phone I know she would have text me but of course, my parents took that away from me."
"She's probably just ill Joe, I'm sure she'll be around soon." Shane assured him patting his back gently before taking a bite out of his apple.
"I just wish I knew," Joe sighed but he looked up when he felt someone stand next to him and he let out a breath of relief when he saw it was Demi stood there. "There you are. Where have you been?"
"I need to talk to you." She urged and he stood up.
"I'll be back," Joe spoke to Shane leaving his lunch there but he piked up his bag swinging it over his shoulder and he followed Demi out into the corridor but he couldn't help but he concerned that she hadn't spoken another word to him. "What's wrong. Demi shook her head gently grabbing hold of his hand pulling him a bit more but she felt comforted when he squeezed her hand. They soon entered an empty classroom and Demi attacked Joe with a hug and he didn't hesitate to wrap his arms back around her. He only became more concerned when he felt his shirt get wet from her tears. "Demi..." She pulled away from him looking up at him as the tears continued to slowly roll down her cheeks.
"I'I'm pregnant." She stammered. It shocked Joe slightly and he pulled away completely from him running his fingers through his hair.
"B-But you took the pill." Joe stammered back.
"And it was only ninety five percent that it would work. Apparently I'm the five percent that it doesn't work on." Demi muttered.
