Joe entered Demi's room a little while longer. He had gone down to the relatives room with Will and Lilly to show everyone Gracie whilst Demi got cleaned up. But he came straight back when Dianna came through, he didn't like the idea of her being alone after she had just given birth. He wasn't surprised when he saw her on the verge of falling asleep. It had been a long day for them all. Twenty two hours Demi was in labor for.
"Hey." Joe greeted sitting down next to her on the bed, sitting on the edge and she leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Hi." She mumbled.
"I know what you're thinking," Demi looked up at him a confused expression on her face. "You wanted to keep her." Demi sighed sitting up straight again pulling the covers over her a bit more.
"Yeah and they're staying as thoughts, I can't take her away from them and like we always said, it's better for us that she goes home with Will and Lilly," Demi replied. "I-I just didn't expect her to be so beautiful." Joe cracked a small smile.
"She was beautiful," Joe agreed. "But we're both bound to doubt that we're doing the right thing."
"You still want to give it a go?" Demi questioned.
"Honestly? No," Joe answered chuckling at her surprised face. "I was stupid to think we could do it really? Seeing everything that goes into having a baby before it's even here was enough to put me off. I want my own family one day but when I'm older and I have a job, we're married too probably. We can watch Gracie grow up through pictures." Joe stated.
"That sounds good," Demi admitted. "Besides, you're band is gonna take off soon and you won't have time for a baby."
"I would have made time for her if it came to it," Joe declared. "But we're too young and I've only just started realizing that over the past couple of months."
"Promise me you'll always call me at least? Wherever you are in the world?" Demi questioned looking up at him and he leaned down kissing her gently. Demi kissed him back but Joe slowly pulled away from her lips but they were only inches away from one another.
"I promise," He breathed before pulling away completely. "I love you, you're not gonna get rid of me that easily." Demi laughed snuggling into his chest and he smiled wrapping his arms around her. It didn't take long for her to fall asleep against him and he allowed her to. He was looking forward to the future with Demi and what it had to bring them. He knew one thing for certain.
He wanted Demi in it.

Demi smiled down at Gracie in the crib next to her bed. She had been fed and winded by her parents but she was allowed to go home tonight. She was perfectly healthy. Joe and Demi were alone in the room with her. Will and Lilly had allowed them to say goodbye to her alone whilst they went to the car to fetch her car seat which she'd be going home in. They were both just admiring her at the moment.

They were both trying to work out who she looked most like. But they could see about half and half in her.
"You haven't held her yet." Demi noticed looking over at Joe breaking the silence between them and Joe glanced at her before looking down a Gracie again.
"I don't really want to get attached," Joe admitted sighing slightly. "I spent moths of her being in your tummy hating everyone for thinking that we couldn't do it. But now she's here I know we can't. I just wish this was happening now in five years or so."
"Me too." Demi admitted but she couldn't help but smile when Joe stood up leaning down in the crib lifting Gracie up into his arms. She whimpered slightly but soon settled down, it was as if she knew she was with her real dad.
"We're sorry that you're not coming home with us princess but you'll have a good home where you're going. And who knows? Maybe one day down the line we'll meet you again." Joe stated and Demi couldn't help but shed a tear wiping it away before it got too far down her cheek.
"Joe can you take her away before I really do change my mind?" Demi questioned and Joe nodded his head.
"You don't want to hold her one last time?" Demi shook her head gently but she didn't hesitate to kiss her daughter's head as Joe leaned her down a little bit.
"Bye baby girl." Demi breathed.
"I'll be back soon." Joe promised and he pecked her lips gently before he left the room. Demi couldn't help but cry more as she watched the door shut behind him.
Gracie was gone.
