Giovanni, during the six year time span in which he dated his childhood friend Gwendoline, was given the surprise of a life time by his parents. No, he wasn't to take over the throne to the kingdom, not yet anyway. No, they weren't giving him another horse seeing as though he could buy his own now. Instead, he was given the news that he was finally going to be a big brother. The vampire prince never thought that his parents would have another child after what they went through to bring him into the world, but it seems like the two were both ready. How he found out, though, was not in the way he imagined he would.

Tonight was Giovanni's thirty-first birthday, and of course a dinner was held in his honor. Matt attended with Lauren and Gwendoline. Gilen was there with Lutz, Anna, Franz, Sarah, Roland, Julia, Alric, and Rosalind. The entirety of both the Kirkland, including Allen, and Bonnefoy families came to celebrate with the boy and his family. And of course Flavio and Andrés joined in. The castle's cooks, under the instruction of Oliver, made a stunning, realistic food looking dinner for everyone, which was thoroughly enjoyed before the cake was presented with thirty-one candles on it. Happy Birthday was sung to Giovanni in the various native tongues of the birthday attendees. The song was a mess, but it made the prince grin and chuckle before he blew out the candles.

The blood cake was distributed and eaten before presents were presented. The Beilschmidt, Edelstein, and Héderváry families presented their gifts first. He was given a new sword, a hunting knife, a limited edition of a book, a hand embroidered handkerchief that was also monogrammed, a new violin, and twelve cases of his favorite hair styling gel that had been discontinued the previous year. Next to bare him gifts were the Kirklands. From them he received a bow, quiver, and arrows for him to use to practice his archery, an archaic book written from the olden days on mythological creatures, a wolf pup, a new saddle for Claudius, a set of acrylic paints and paint bushes, a large tub of his favorite blood cookies, and a t-shirt that read "Gothic Prince", which nearly gave Flavio a heart attack since he deemed it unfashionable.

The Bonnefoy's gave their gifts next, which included five bottles of well aged wine, three bottles of bourbon, and a book cataloging all species of flowers, which Giovanni had a fascination with just as his father did. Then the Williams and single Jones family member gave him their gifts. From Allen he received a limited edition copy of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and then a set of customized, hand engraved dog tags, a stainless steel tea set, and a scrapbook documenting fun and embarrassing moments in his life. Next to present their gifts were Flavio and Andrés. He was given a bunch of new clothing of varying styles and another knife.

Finally, it was yours and Luciano's turn to give your son your gifts. Luciano gave him something that had been a tradition passed down to him by his parents: a cross necklace with his name engraved on the back, as well as his birthday. Giovanni, who had chosen to be a Catholic like his father when he was sixteen, smiled as he put it on, tucking it into his shirt. Then you handed him you present, which was a stainless steel watch with his favorite quote from Romulus' mother that he had heard from his father. Giovanni thanked everyone for all the wonderful gifts, thinking that he was done receiving them. He was confused when you handed him a larger than average yellowish orange envelope. He tilted his head to the side in confusion.

"Mama, what-"

        "Shh. Just open it."

He nodded and broke the seal on the envelope. He pulled out a picture that was nearly as big as the envelope. The white side was facing him, so he turned it around. It was an ultrasound photograph with the date from the previous week. Giovanni's eyes were wide as he turned his attention over to you and his father.
