You stood in your room in front of your vanity about two weeks after you hand your short encounter with Luciano, fixing your hair and making sure you looked okay to go out in public and to meet the royal family. Well, actually it was just the younger prince, but you assumed you would have a run in with the other royals at some point. Why were you going to the castle? Gilen had invited you to accompany him and his brother for a meeting with Luciano and two of the youngest military members. Why he invited you, you weren't sure, but you really didn't care either. It'd be a fun little trip that would get you out of the house, which you were grateful to do since you rarely went out without your father or mother. Going out with your friend would be great and would hopefully offer a new experience for you.

Gilen eventually knocked on your bedroom door gently so he wouldn't scare you. You glanced at him from the corner of your vanity's mirror and offered him a smile. He gave you a soft smile back and folded his hands in front of him as he waited for you to finish up. You soon did so and turned to walk towards him. He offered you his arm to take to walk out in public. You took it with a dazzling smile and walked with him to your front door.

"Goodbye mother! Goodbye father!" you called out to your parents, your father just getting ready to head out as well to go to work.

"Goodbye dear!" your mother called from the kitchen.

"Goodbye sweetheart. Have fun at the castle but remember your manners when you meet the royal family and-"

"And don't show of your intelligence too much because I won't know how they will respond to an educated young lady from the middle class," you said, finishing his sentence.

        "That's my girl."

"I'll have her back before sunrise," Gilen added.

Your father nodded at him. "You better."

"I promise I will. I hope to see you sometime soon, as I do for you too Mrs. (l/n)."

"Yes, see you again soon Gilen!" your mother said as she peaked her head around the door frame of the kitchen.

"Alright. Enough farewells or you'll both be late, and one should never be late for a meeting with a royal."

Gilen nodded at your father before leading you outside. You still had your elbows linked with Gilen's, but he didn't seem to mind. He walked you down the street to where the carriage he took here was parked, the horses and driving waiting for you both. A footman jumped off the back of the carriage and opened the door and helped you and Gilen to climb in. You took your seat across from Gilen and looked out the window as the carriage began moving. Gilen kept his gaze directed towards his lap, his hands folded neatly. You furrowed your eyebrows as you went over a bump in the road.

"I hate carriages..." you grumbled, crossing your arms and legs.

        "Hm?" Gilen hummed.

"I said that I hate carriages."

        "Why is that?"

"They are took clunky. They could be built much lighter and not have to have multiple horses pull them if someone would just put in the time and effort to redesign them..."

"You're right. They could be built lighter. Perhaps I'll mention it to the prince and see if he can get someone on it."

"No need. It will happen in due time, and if not, oh well. It was never meant to be then."
