Jonah was hunched over as he played The Legend of the Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It was his favorite game, and he wanted to get some gaming done before school. So he sat in his gaming chair, in front of his gaming T.V.
His mother Rachel, stared at him leaning against the doorframe that lead to his room.
"Hey honey, you should probably start getting ready." Her milk chocolate eyes bore into him, as he looked behind his shoulder.
"Yeah okay." He said glumly and stood up, stretching his arms out.
Rachel shook her head, "How have you not gained any weight from eating so much and doing nothing?"
He shrugged his shoulders, "I dunno, it's a special power I guess."
He looked over at his mother, with a thin body, long blonde hair, and dark eyes.
He looked like his mother, except for the thin part, he made a conscious effort in ninth grade to go to the gym everyday, so now he has a well muscled and toned body. So he did do something to maintain his weight.
He turned away from her to go get ready, when his mother grabbed his arm, "Hey, are you okay?" She asked. Looking up at her now taller son.
He grinned, showing perfect teeth. "Yeah I'm fine, why?"
"You have bags under your eyes... have you been having that dream again?" She asked, squeezing his arm in comfort.
"I need to get ready Mom." He sighed.
She stepped back and shook her head, "I just want you to take care of yourself. I want you to be okay."
"I'll be fine." He said, giving her a big bear hug.
What she didn't know is that he wasn't going to be fine.
He hopped in the shower, threw on a t-shirt, brushed his teeth and hair, and ran downstairs for breakfast.
He froze on the last step of the stairs, "I don't know honey, it seems like this dream is getting... worse for him." Rachel said with a worried tone.
He heard his father sigh, "I know. He's been at home more. I just,"
He decided to walk into the room at that point.
"Hey." Jonah said casually, striding towards the fridge. His parents looked up and gave him a smile that didn't reach their eyes.
"Hey bud, want me to make you some breakfast?" His dad Steve asked. He had a darker completion and the same dark eyes.
"No, I can make something." He said, grabbing a granola bar and a bottle of water.
"Yeah that's totally making something." Steve said sarcastically shaking his head.
"Hey I want to get to school early." Jonah said while munching on his granola bar.
Steve put his hands up, "Okay, do you need a ride?"
He shook his head, "No, I can take my car."
He grabbed his jacket, keys, and backpack and walked out the door.
Sliding into his car, he took in a deep breath, resting his head against the steering wheel.
"Why is this happening to me?" He whispered to himself, clenching his fists together.
Realizing he had other things to do, he hid those emotions inside, he would deal with them later. As of now he had to deal with another nightmare, school.
