You laugh along side of your husband as Ellen tells, yet, another joke. The burgundy skin tight dress complimented your body as your black pumps made your calfs look great. You and Ethan's matching fedoras were undeniably cute. Ethan wore a white collar shirt with a black cardigan and some ripped jeans.
"I mean, I'm just saying.", she says as the crowd calms down. "Alright so exactly how long have you guys been married?"
"A few months.", you said as Ethan reached over to hold your hand, "7 months on the 9th."
"Oh wow, congratulations," the crowd cheers and Ellen continues, "it was a beautiful ceremony. I went for anyone wondering-"
"You did!", Ethan reassures, "We didn't actually think you'd come."
The crowd laughs and you add on to what Eth was saying, "Yeah we had sent you an invitation thinking you'd send it right back with some tickets for your show and be like 'thank you so much for the invitation but...' and yeah."
"But here we are, you came to the wedding and we're on the show as guests and not in the audience as we expected and...", Ethan nodded his head and looked over at you, "We're very thankful that you came."
You look up and see a picture of you, Ethan, and Ellen all lined up posing for a group photo on the screen and the crowd awes, "It was a great ceremony, the reception was beautiful, I really enjoyed myself."
"We're so happy you came, thank you for coming and the...", you look Ethan as he hesitates, "the gift."
"The gift," you say, right before bursting into laughter. Ellen laughs along, "The gift was a nice touch."
Ellen points to the screen behind her and a picture of you and Ethan with helmets and tons of condoms pop up that you had sent to her after opening her gift, thanking her for such a gift, the crowd bursts into laughter.
"What did the card say again?", she asked teasingly.
"I don't remember, baby do you?"
Your head shot up as Ethan pointed to you, you shake your head and deny it all, "No, I don't think-"
"I do!", Ellen gladly mentions "I said, 'cover your head for whatever bumpy ride your preparing for' and..."
The crowd laughed even harder and she just shrugged, "Half of those condoms are gone and we use the helmets for the headboard." Your jaw drops at Ethan's comment as the crowd screams.
You and Ethan laugh lightly and Ellen begins to speak, "Okay wait," the crowd begins to calms, "so being married, has it been fun?"
"I -- I don't know about Ethan, but I have had nothing but fun and laughter-"
"Laughter? With what you're doing with my gift?", Ellen jokes, "No, I'm just kidding, but like how is it different?"
"I don't know," you say, sitting up straighter, "everything is better and even like bills are better to do because we have to consult with each other and it's... fun."
"What about you, Ethan?", Ellen asks, "How is it different, good or bad?"
"Honestly?", Ethan said, Ellen nodded and continued, "I have never been more happy. Like signing anything and being so excited to look over and see her filling in the 'Mrs' bubble and..." the crowd awes and you blush uncontrollably. "Everything is just so much better with her around and I mean... I'm so in love and-"
"Baby...", you blush heavily and hold his hand tight. "I feel the exact same way."
"Do you?", Ellen asks, sarcastically, "Are you not just saying that to make yourself look better?"
The crowd laughs and you answer, "No, like I genuinely, well okay. So like in the beginning of our friendship, I was really scared I was gonna get bored fast or you weren't gonna be my forever type only because we had so many mutual friends and breakups are never fun, but here I am, head over heels and wishing there was another step high that we can take above marriage because I do want to be committed to you."
"Well, that brings me to my next question, is there anything you are scared of or anything as a couple?"
"Um...", you shift your body, "I am really scared that one day he'll just...", you adjusted your body and say, "now I'm gonna get all emotional.", your eyes begin to water and Ellen hands you a tish, "Thank you, but I am mortified that Ethan will no longer look at me or look at his life the way he just explained to you. You know? To hear that the person you love no longer loves you back...", you sniffle, and Ethan hugs you.
"But that's the thing, I'm petrified that...", Ethan pulls you into a deeper hug and continues, "Not that I see it coming anytime soon, because I love her so much, but I would never wanna see the day where I might wake up and think 'what if we never got married' or 'what if she's not the one' and, " he turns his body to you and says, "even though you just
said that me telling you I don't love you anymore would kill you, but having to say it to the woman you promised to love for the rest of your life would..." he sniffles and wipes your tears away. "And - and, not only that, but for any future children of ours... I don't want them to live in separate homes, but sometimes it's best that way, but being in love with you has been the best days of my life and I genuinely believe that talking about this... it just shows that we have nothing to worry about. We're too in love."You smile widely, "We have nothing to worry about?"
"Nothing.", he reassures as he kisses you hand, "Nothing to fear." He grabs your face and kisses lips and the crowd awes.
"Wow, isn't that just adorable.", Ellen comments, "Portia and I need to have one of those talks. Alright well, we're going into a break, but thank you, Ethan and y/n so much for coming out and the wedding."
The crowd cheers as you and Ethan rise and wave to the crowd, Ellen hugs each of you and walks you guys off stage.
You and Ethan head over to you dressing room, wiping each other's eyes right before you plot yourselves on the couch.
"I never knew you felt-"
"I didn't know you felt that way.", Ethan said, you smile and he pulls you in, "I'm happy with you."
"I'm happy with you too.", you say with a smile. He pulls you into a kiss and you ask, "There's really nothing to be scared of?"
"Nothing to fear."
