"Baby, just think about his future."
"I am. And while doing so, I know he's gonna get made fun of."
"Baby-"
You scrunched up your hair, before you began to pace back and forth as Grayson sat on the chair, with his eyes following you,"I'm not doing it, babe. There's no way-"
"It's not -- he's falling behind, he-"
"I will not let our child be the laughing stock of his grade.", you said, slamming your hands on the coffee table before him.
"We don't have a choice, y/n, he has no idea what he's doing, if we send him to the 5th grade, he won't know what to do-"
"I am not going to let our child fall behind and repeat the 4th grade and watch all of his friends go through promotion!", you said, pacing back and forth again. "Can we at least try a tutor-"
"And spend money we don't have because we're spending it all on our daughter's 16? What if we just don't do the 16 for her and give her some regular party-"
"No, i didn't get a 16 when i was a kid, because we couldn't afford it, i promised myself id give my daughter she'd get the one of her dreams."
Grayson rushed over to you and held you, "And we will, I promised you that too." he let go of your body and grabbed your face to have you look up at him, "But we can't have our little boy-"
"I know.", you took a deep breath and let Grayson hold you.
"Guys?", your heads shot to the hallway and saw your little 9 year old in his pjs.
"Hey, buddy, what are you doing up?", you asked as you squatted down to reach his level. He walked towards very quietly, "Hm?"
"I can repeat the 4th grade. I just don't get anything that she ever teaches me.", he said, Grayson squatted down too and pulled him into a hug, "All my friends can do the math, but i just don't...", he shrugged his shoulders. "But it's okay, I can-"
"Bup, why didn't you ever say anything?", Grayson asked, swooping your son's light brown hair to one side.
"Because... i didn't want to feel stupid.", he shrugged again.
"Oh baby," you joined in on their hug and continued, "don't ever say that."
"Yeah," Gray grabbed his arms and faced him, "you're one of the brightest kids i know."
"I'm the only kid you know.", he says back,
You laugh hard and Grayson nods, "Yeah, but I know you're sister. So shhh."
"I heard that.", the three of you guys looked up again, found your 15 year old daughter in her volleyball shorts and one of Grayson's Nirvana shirts, "Thanks dad."
"And what are you doing up, young lady?", you asked, standing up.
"He woke me up, told me you guys were arguing and came to lay down with me. He realized it was about him and here we are.", your daughter said as she came to sit across from you guys on the sofa, "So, what are we gonna do?"
"I'm repeating the 4th grade."
"Are you sure?", you asked, looking down at him.
"You can't let him do that," you daughter says, "he is gonna get made fun of at school and how am I suppose to kick their asses? They're too young."
"Language.", you spoke softly, "What if we sent him to a new school?"
The room was quiet as each of you thought about the possibility, "How about that buddy?", Grayson asked, "A whole new school."
"Can i still hang out with all my friends?"
"They can come over, sure.", you said.
Your son happily nodded his head and snuggled into Grayson's chest. You admired the way Grayson carried himself with your children, your son looked just like him and your daughter kind of had a dash of Cameron in her.
"Alright, can i watch tv in here?", you daughter asked.
"No," you said, pointing towards her room, "you are going back to bed."
She sighed heavily as you pushed her into the direction of her bedroom, "Can i sleep with you guys tonight?"
"Of course, bup.", Grayson said, picking him up and carrying him to your bedroom. "Meet in the bedroom, baby."
"Okay.", you said from your daughter's bedroom. "And you missy, have you decided on your theme."
"Uncle Eth said masquerade and i really like the idea of everyone coming in gowns and stuff.", she said, putting her hair up in a bun.
"Ooh like a ball?"
"YES. Just like a ball!", she squealed.
"I'll talk to your dad about it," you stuck your pinky and and said, "I'll make sure to convince him," you both laughed and held pinkies, "but for now, get some sleep."
"It's not a school night!"
"Alright then, at least stay quiet.", you smiled and walked out of her room, into yours where your guys' son laid in the farthest right, you husband in the middle and crawled into to be on the left. "My two big strong men in one bed, I'm a lucky gal."
Grayson extended his arm and pulled you into his chest to be cradled as well, "My girl and my boy. I'm a lucky guy."
You laughed lightly and you both took heavy breath in and out, "God i love you."
"Oh...", he said, sarcastically, "About that... while you were talking to Princess Dolan, frog over here," he said, shaking the bup's body, "said he liked me more than you so now he's my number one, but you were so close."
Your jaw dropped, "Well, i can't say I blame you, he is one handsome frog." You both laughed and you turned your body away from Gray and said, "Yet I still can't believe i lost to a 9 year old boy."
"Hey, you are right under him."
"Second place?", you asked, Grayson nods, "Oh i get it."
"Get what?"
"Why our boy is your favorite."
"I already said why."
"Yeah but it's because you're both at the same level of childishness."
Grayson's jaw drops, "I am not childish."
"He's the only one in the family who plays pirates of the backyard with you."
"Not true, Ethan does too!", you laugh hard and he pulls you in closer. "Me and you play other kinds of games."
"Like what?", you ask him as he turns his body to have your back up against his abs with your waist by his heat. He then growls in your ear and you giggle again. You turned to face him and climbs on top of you to only growl in your neck. "So childish." you laugh.
