John
When it comes to Thanksgiving, my family is insane. I'm talking like, all of my siblings, aunts, uncles, and even some family friends attend. My mother doesn't mind at all. In fact, she loves cooking to the point where we always have too many leftovers and everybody takes a heaping portion of food home with plenty to spare. She cooks enough for a small army sometimes.
So when Alex and I heard the doorbell ring, we knew that the small army was about to arrive.
We got dressed back into our clothes (me into a sweatshirt and Alex into his sweater) and climbed downstairs to find three of my five sisters (I am aware that he had only four siblings but I DON'T CARE WE NEED A SMALL ARMY TO FEED) standing in the hallway, fussing over all of their children.
The oldest of my sisters, Mary, looked up at me. "JOHN!" she shrieked, then abandoned the toddler whose jacket she had been fixing and catapulted onto me with a huge bear-hug.
The other two squealed at a similar decibel and dog-piled onto me, leaving behind their children to wonder what the hell their mothers were doing.
I heard Alex chuckle from my vantage-point beneath my siblings.
Once they had removed themselves from me, they all simultaneously noticed Alex.
"Johnny, who's this?" Katherine, the second-eldest, asked, a slight hint of impending doom lacing her voice. "Is he your boyfriend?"
"Um, yeah," I said, then wrapped my arm around his waist and kissed his cheek. "Mary, Beatrice, Katherine, this is Alexander Hamilton, my boyfriend."
There was a single, terrifying moment of silence.
"MY GOD, FINALLY!" Beatrice, the youngest of my sisters, said, then shoved me away from my other half and gave Alex a hug. "He's so handsome!" she said to me, which caused a spurt of giggles to erupt from my other sisters. "Like, seriously, Johnny, you struck out with this one!"
"I am aware of this fact, Beatrice," I said.
Alex blushed madly.
"He's so fluffy," Mary commented, ruffling his hair. "Madison, come and meet your new uncle!"
"Hold up--" Alex said.
It was too late by then. The beast had been awoken.
Scene: small toddler shrieks at the top of her lungs and launches herself at Boyfriend, toppling him backwards. Boyfriend cannot dodge small toddler, so Boyfriend accepts his fate as part of the carpet in the hallway.
When my mother came into the hallway, she found a group of grown adults on the floor, laughing.

"Hold up, hold up," Amy, my younger sister (who was still in High School) asked, laughing. "You guys kissed on the third day of knowing each other?!"
"Yep!" Alex giggled.
The table bursted into laughter. My aunts and uncles were perfectly fine with me being gay, and now they were judging my boyfriend, making sure he was good enough for me. So far, he was passing their tests.
"So, Alex," my aunt Marjorie asked once the laughter had died down. "What's your major?"
"English, Theater, and Creative Writing," he said.
Everyone else at the table gave a low whistle.
"That's pretty ambitious, Alex," uncle Jeremy said. "John, does he spend enough time with you?"
