Santana's Desire
Chapter 6
Broken
(San dealing without Damon and getting to know Mason.)
It's been one long miserable week. I haven't had any calls from Dillon. He hasn't even came to the apartment. I'm not sure what happened that day. I stare in the mirror and wonder what happened while I was at Mason's house, I mean his nephew Tyler's house. It was a big blur then and now. I remember some things. One thing I thought I recalled was Dillon knocking me in the shower and pouring hot water on me. I thought I would have scars to show I was burned by the water. I have nothing, not even a cut. Mason says I was in the house for a few days. Even a week would not have this affect. I hope to see Mason for information on what happened that day, the whole story.
I tried not to think how Damon completely put me out of his life. It made me angry to think about it. That was my second sexual experience? What a dirt bag. I tried to keep myself occupied until I got over him. I wrote poems for a local school, sold some books I had left over, rented a car for longer distance traveling. My agent Chris booked me a gig at a college, a community college. They opened a course on writing and acting, I had to take it. It covered gas expenses and they purchased a box of 20 books. I had to do a speech that I didn't really prepare for. I cleaned the apartment and spoke to myself about what I would say. I also signed up for boxing classes at some worn out place called Dream Beat. It was free and a block away. I went there Tuesdays and Thursdays. I had only three classes under my belt but the knowledge made me feel better of myself, imagining I would bash a certain blue eyed mans face in. I couldn't really do that to him. I wanted to be able to defend myself.
It so happened that the day I had to go to the college I also had a boxing class, my fourth one. I would be late if I did both. We weren't able to reschedule either. I needed the money and the self defense. I drove to the college in Richmond Virginia. The community college was well taken care of. I was brought to a location called Park center. I met with a few people, the Dean then we took a trip to where I would be doing my speech. It was in the gallery, a part of the Reynolds community college. It was nerve racking doing this type of thing. It makes it easier when you have good listeners who ask real questions. Everyone was polite and the school smelled amazing. It was clean, everyone looked happy and well dressed.
After my speech everyone shook my hand and asked for an autograph. I blushed and signed books they picked from the opened box. Students taking the new course asked about how I became a writer. I sounded cheesy but told them I was born with it, its true. Once you hear about what writing really is, you catch someone's amazing poem or story, you want to do the same. It started with poems and songs for me then led into short stories, from there I decided I wasn't going to stop. It always starts small, the local paper, school meetings. What helped me was getting an agent that would help find gigs that would pay to meet me and or buy my books. There are gigs that I do for free just to get exposure.
The students seemed excited and ready to accomplish the same thing. I was feeling good I forgot about boxing class. I glanced over at Chris who was smiling as I was. I gave him our secret signal to cut it short. He got the hint and did his agent thing. Soon I was cleaning up my table and thanking the last of the students and staff. It was an awesome experience.
I had Chris get my car and bring it to the front while I finished up. He didn't enjoy the maid work but did it anyway. That is why I pay him. I grabbed my empty box and bag of fliers with a few other things inside and met Chris outside who was standing by my rented car.
"Thank you. I would stay and chat but I am so late."
"You're not going to make it. Don't worry it was for a good reason." Chris smiled.
