Santana's Desire

Chapter 8

Follow you down

(Mason and J are good friends.)

I had so much on my plate. It was better to have on my plate than on my mind. I had three classes every week for the next two weeks. Chris my agent booked two gigs. All of this in one week. I had Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday booked. I had to finish a children's story and present it in the first copy. Since I went to the college in Virginia they told a few people and they told their people, Chris got a call and was told to have me meet with a printing company. He took care of meetings like that. They offered me a contract that read for me to do three stories for children. I had to get one done in less than 14 days. The other I had the rest of the year to get done.  It paid a lot of money. For the first book it was a grand to start. Then once the book was in print I would get half of everything. If it makes 50,000 I get 25,000.  I figured I can get all three done before a couple of months. At least two of them.

I had Saturday open if I wanted to go out. I should stay home and write but I do that all night. I haven't seen Mason in a while. Its been three days since we hung out. I knew he would offer something this weekend. This week was going to be the hardest.  I had a class today and did good from what Donnie says. I got this week out of the way quickly.  During next classes with Donnie I was going to see if the dance class was there. Maybe I could watch the kids and get some ideas for one of the books I had to write.

I rushed home and jumped in the shower. I have been doing great not thinking of Damon. I guess I was over him. The longer he took to call or show up the more I disliked him.  Mason and I haven't passed any boundaries again. He was becoming a friend.  A few more hangouts and girlie phone calls, he would soon be in the friend zone. He didn't seem to mind being friends.  I did think about what we had done but it was behind us now. He stopped mentioning Damon and I did also. He was also behind.

After I showered I heated up a can of soup, sat with my laptop and wrote for a while. I was surprised I didn't hear from Mason yet. It was Friday afternoon and he still didn't call me. I didn't think much of it. There were a couple days he didn't call me. I never told him to call so we can go out. I couldn't expect him to call because it was Friday night. I didn't want to bother him. I didn't want him to think I wanted something more than a friendship. Calling him would make him think I was needy. I put a DVD on, popped some popcorn and sat on the couch.

I had a knock on my door. I paused the movie and held my popcorn tight. I grabbed my phone off the table and started to panic.  I checked my neck for the necklace Mason gave me. I dialed Mason's number and texted it.

'Are you at my door?' I asked through text.

I lowered the volume and waited for his answer.

'I am not at your door. Do you need me?' He asked.

'Where are you? I have a knock at my door.' I texted.

'I swear it's not me. I will be there soon.' Mason said.

'Can I keep texting you?' I asked.

I jumped at another knock. I should check who it is before he comes over. What if it's a neighbor or someone at the wrong door. How stupid would I feel. I walked to the door and waited for another knock. I tried to listen. I could hear breathing at the door, so someone was definitely there.

'I hear breathing at the door.' I texted Mason.

'Who is it?' He asked.

'I don't know. No one called me.' I typed.
