MAYBE IT WAS DESTINED, perhaps it was a coincidence, or maybe it was God's work of making two people's path collide, of telling them they were meant for each other. Maybe it was the universe who wanted them to be together, forever this time. Or maybe they were only meant for destruction, and destruction only.

It seemed like everything was planned to happen, something cliché that usually only happened in a movie.

Alice and Natalia had went shopping today since Natalia was allowed to leave early from her work, and what better day to spend it with one of her best friends. They strolled down the streets of Madrid, looking through the boutiques or store windows, and entering every once in while to see if they would find something they liked.

After what was about two hours, the girls decided to take a small 'break' and enter Maria Lucia's - the restaurant where James and Natalia had their first date as a couple, the place where James realized that he could only love one woman, and only that woman for the rest of his life.

"There is this wonderful restaurant, only about seven minutes from here, that Álvi brought me to a few weeks ago. We should go!" Alice said smiling. Not knowing that where she would be taking Natalia, was a place an important place to her. Natalia felt her heart sink a bit when Alice pointed to the restaurant from afar, it was 'their' restaurant.

Alice and Natalia walked through the busy streets of Madrid when she felt someone shove her shoulder, making her drop her phone. "Mierda," Natalia cursed as she saw her phone lying face-down on the cement.

"Perdón," he said and quickly got down to pick up her phone. "At least it's not broken," he laughed with a cute smile, hoping that who's ever phone he dropped wouldn't be too mad. He held out her phone, but she didn't seem to reach for it or even look up at him.

If she felt her heart stopped when her phone fell on the cement, then her heart completely stopped as soon as he heard his voice. The voice she was longing to hear, the voice that was etched in her head.

Natalia's stomach churned, as her heart began to beat out of her chest - but she was still completely frozen. If she could have, she would've grabbed her phone out of his hand and walked away.

"James," Alice said brightly with her adorable Italian accent.

"Hola Alice."

Natalia forced herself to grab her phone, and smile at James - just for Alice to get the idea that they were fine and on good terms.

James on the other hand, he hadn't realized that it was Natalia, his Natalia, who he had bumped into. But when he did see her soft brown eyes looking up at him, it made the small hairs on the back of his neck stand up, he felt a small pain in his chest for some reason, it felt strange for him.

She looked different to him but nonetheless beautiful. He could still almost see the face of the fourteen-year-old girl who stole his heart when he was only fifteen.

He cleared his throat, "So how are guys?"

"We're fine," Alice answered. "We were about to eat some lunch. But we wouldn't mind you joining, let's all catch up," she smiled, being absolutely clueless at how awkward this was for the ex-couple. But Alice wasn't aware of what happened, so it wasn't her fault.

"Uh.. why not," James said, with a forced smile. They began walking towards the restaurant, Natalia walking as far as she could from him, without making it noticeable that she didn't want him near her. When Natalia entered she felt a strange feeling in her stomach - a feeling she couldn't explain, or just words wouldn't be enough to explain how she felt. As much as she didn't want to be there, it just felt right.

James remembered the day he had brought her here for the first time, for their first date. And now they were back and everything felt strange but amazing at the same time. The only difference now that they weren't together. Together as in a couple - but their hearts were always together, always connected no matter how many miles were between them.

After two years, those feelings were still there. Natalia always told herself that those feelings for him were gone. After two years of working so hard to get rid of them, they returned in a matter of seconds, and she hated it.

Maybe it was coincidence, or maybe it was fate that they both were roaming the same streets of Madrid at the exact moment. Maybe this time it was meant for them to be forever, or maybe this time they would be strangers forever.

they finally saw each other haha. pretty cliché ugh ik. - also there will be almost like a 'part two' of this, so it will be about
them at the restaurant.
