EVERYTHING WAS COMPLICATED. That was what you could say about James and Natalia and whatever they had. At times, they would be perfectly fine and at other times they would act as if they didn't know one another.

Everything was different now. They we're adults, and seemed to make everything a hundred times more complicated. Back then, a small gesture would fix problems between them. The only difference back then, was that their problems weren't the same. When they were younger they would argue over what was the best football team, or who could do something better, and now their problems were much more than that.

Sometimes James wished he could go back to living a simple life, where he didn't have much to worry about, or have any pressure on his shoulders to be the best. All he cared about as a little boy living in Colombia, was playing football and going to school everyday.

James was born into a humble and sweet family, who weren't rich but neither were they poor, they had enough for themselves. He had always been an extremely shy kid, and especially since he had been one to stutter a lot- and he had needed a special therapist to help him with his stuttering problem.

But whenever he was around Natalia, his shyness always disappeared, she was the only person he really felt comfortable around. It was as if his fears would dissolve and he would always wear a big smile, proudly on his face when he was with Natalia. She was the only one who could ever make him smile the way he did whenever he was around her.

James was never one of those boys during the time he was a teenager. He was one of the sweetest and kindest boy you could possibly ever meet. A gentleman with good intentions; and that's why everyone loved him.

He had many girls after him, but he was never one to pay attention to them. His eyes were set on one girl by the name of Natalia Alvarez. His childhood sweetheart, and the only girl he would and always have eyes for.

Everyone loved James Rodriguez. Who didn't love the sweet boy with the biggest and brightest smile. The boy who had a dream, one he never gave up on.

"One day, I'll be playing there, Nata," James grinned, pointing at the footballers playing on the television. "One day I'll be playing for Real Madrid, imagine how crazy that would be. It would be a dream come true."

"I'll be there supporting you," Natalia said smiling. "Like I always will be, James."

James nodded. "We'll do everything together, because if one day I become something big, you'll be apart of everything."

He had always been one to have high hopes for everything, he never gave up on something and he would be happy until he accomplished his goal.

"And we'll be able to travel the world together, like you have always dreamed of doing," he added. "We'll go to where you've always dreamt of going. I promise you that."

"You promise?"

"I promise, Nata."

Natalia was awoken to knocking on her door, that she could hear from her bedroom. She rubbed her eyes and checked her phone, it was midnight, who could possibly be knocking at this time.

At first, she wasn't going to bother to answer the door. For all she knew it could be someone trying to kill her. But she went along with it, opening the door slightly to peek through and hopefully see that the person on the other side of the door wasn't trying to harm her.

She felt herself get angry that it was James knocking on her door, at midnight when she could be sleeping. "What in the hell are you doing James? Are you serious? It's midnight. What was so important you had to come and wake me up," she asked, in a somewhat angry tone. Natalia only acted this way because she was actually really tired, and she always got very cranky when she was awoken.

James only sent her a small and sympathetic smile, almost apologizing with the look on his face. "We're going somewhere," he smiled.

"Right now? James, are you alright, because it's literally midnight right now and you want to go somewhere. Are you drunk?" Natalia asked as she placed her small hand on his forehead, checking his temperature or trying to notice something that would give away that there was something wrong with him.

He lightly chuckled, he couldn't help but find her adorable, dressed in a large hoodie and her hair in a messy bun looking extremely confused. "You look cute."

"You didn't answer my questions James," she rolled her eyes, "And I look like I got run over by a bus, this isn't cute at all. Also, are you sure that you're really okay?"

James lightly chuckled again, "I'm okay," he declared, he also found that fact that she was so worried about him adorable.

Natalia still gave him a strange look, and examined the look on his face. James didn't look confused and hesitant about what he was saying, so he actually meant what he was saying. "So where are we going? And why right now, James it's midnight."

"I'm aware that it's midnight, you've said that many times, Nata. But you'll know when we get there," he said with a cute grin painted on his face.

The drive had been short, and Natalia was confused due to the reason why they were at an airport, wondering where they were going. "James where are we going?" She asked, for what seemed like the hundredth time since they had left her apartment.

"You'll find out soon."

Natalia huffed, dropped her bag, and sat on a bench nearby. She absolutely hated secrets. "You know I hate secrets," she sighed, as she looked at him with a annoyed look. "Especially when you're keeping them to piss me off."

James was about to reply to her but he was interrupted by the intercom, announcing the flight to Paris, France.

"Well that's our flight, Nata," he said grinning, even bigger this time.

Natalia couldn't help but smile at him, she didn't believe that James would do all of this for her, especially after she thought everything between them was back to being the awkward and pretending-to-not-know-each-other phase.

"Come on we can't keep Paris waiting."
