NATALIA WAS CURRENTLY COOKING breakfast for herself and James- she had woken up with motivation to cook something. One of his favorite dishes, a dish that James' mother had taught her when she was younger during the numerous times she stayed over at the Rodriguez-Rubio household. All she could remember was staying at James' house last night, since she had left Cristiano's house pretty late. She remembered lying down on the couch, insisting she wasn't tired, so they decided on watching a movie- but she had actually fallen asleep only fifteen minutes into movie.
"Buenos días Natalia," James mumbled, as a lazy smile appeared on his face. He slowly sat in a stool, where he stared at her. "What are you making? It smells really good."
"I'm making your favorite," she smiled.
James nodded, and mumbled something about going up to brush his teeth before leaving. He came back to see two plates, filled with delicious smelling and looking food.
"Thank you," he sat down in his seat. "It's been a while since I've eaten something that's homemade and the food I actually love," he added, as he smiled at Natalia, who was sitting across from him.
"Of course," she smiled and they both dug into the food she had prepared.
After a while they had spent eating and talking about everything that was coming up; like the World Cup, which Natalia couldn't wait for and hoped to see her country do great things again.
"Natalia, I'm gonna go shower real quick," James said, as she nodded. "I'll be done really quick so I can drop you off at your apartment," he added. Natalia had to work today, so that's why she had to leave his place so early.
She nodded. James got up and headed upstairs. She began to clean up everything. As she was putting the dishes in the dishwasher for them to watched, she heard a phone buzz. Without paying much attention to it, she continued to do what she was doing.
Until she heard it buzz two more times, she turned and saw that it was James' phone. Natalia's eyebrows furrowed, she was curious to he could be texting him- but she knew it was not her business to go through his messages or anything.
As she dried up the plates she heard his phone buzz once again. This time, curiosity took over her and she decided to at least check who was texting- it could possibly be something important.
She would be lying if she didn't feel a sting of jealousy overcome her as she saw the contact name.
"Who's Sofia?" She mumbled, as she saw the messages appear on this lock screen, sent by someone named Sofia.
'Hola James. And don't worry! We can meet today, if you'd like. I just need to check what time I'm free. Does 15:30 sound good to you?'
Natalia frowned- she had no business being jealous but she couldn't help but feel jealous. Overall, she was confused to who 'Sofia' was and why they would be meeting.
She wasn't going to go crazy over something small. Plus, James and her weren't officially dating- which meant he didn't claim her and vice-versa.
But the kiss they had shared in Paris, and all the time they had spent hanging out since they had come back from France had somewhat given her somewhat reassurance to the idea that they could possibly be getting back. That everything would go back to 'normal'- or just the way she wanted everything to be.
Natalia let out a sigh, she felt stupid at the moment. She didn't know if she should feel stupid over the fact that she was getting jealous at the fact that James was talking to someone even though they really weren't together, or that if everything that had happened in the past few weeks had meant nothing to James, and that everything had just been a game or a way to play with her feelings- to get back at how she had treated him.
At the moment, she didn't know what to do. She was torn between asking him who this woman was or just ignoring it. She felt stupid for also thinking that James would want to hurt her- but there was a possibility that all of this could just be to get back at her. She knew him well, but maybe not too well, because a lot of things could've happened in two years he had been in Germany.
She didn't know what to feel truly, assuming things were never a good thing. But she was afraid that maybe James was possibly seeing someone else, and that all of the time spent and the times he had told her that he loved her were lies.
But she couldn't just question who she was, James and her weren't exactly dating, so she felt as if she had no right to ask.
Natalia set his phone back down, and tried to continue cleaning up. As soon as she had finished, she sat down on a stool and bit her lip, there was no way she could stop thinking about all of this. She felt anxious and nervous, because what if everything she was worrying about turned out to be wrong, and she would just seem stupid and insecure in front of him.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard footsteps down the stairs and saw James looking at her with a smile. This was literally eating her alive, and she couldn't help but want to leave. "Sorry for taking so long."
"It's fine," she mumbled. She didn't know wether she should ask him about Sofia, or if she should just stay quiet instead of starting something unnecessary. She wanted everything to stay the same, but she also wanted answers as well. "Someone texted you, and I think it was important because they texted you a couple more times."
James walked over to his phone, and saw that Sofia had messaged him. He mentally facepalmed himself, there was no way Natalia didn't who had texted. "It's nothing important," he said, and shoved his phone into his pocket.
"Are you sure?" Natalia asked. James knew she was only acting as if she didn't know anything.
James' eyes narrowed. "Why does it matter to you?" He questioned, as his smile was replaced by the plain and blank expression.
"Who's Sofia?" She blurted. Natalia mentally cursed at herself. She shut her eyes and sighed, she couldn't believe that she had asked him that.
James didn't know what had overcome him, but at the moment he felt that he couldn't control his words. "It doesn't matter, and it isn't your business- it's not as if we're together."
