Moriah Hill

"I don't why I let y'all drag me to this stupid park anyways." I mumbled, pulling down my blue and white tie-die crop top. "Girl, all them fine ass boys be here." Aja said. "Uh girl ain't Tremaine your boo?" our friend, Ny'Andrea, or Drea as we call her, asked sarcastically. I snickered. "Y'all think y'all funny huh? Moriah, we all know you got a thing for Trevor and Ny'Andrea, don't get me started on you and Demetrius." Ny'Andrea put her hands up in defense. "Okay, nigga damn." We walked past the basketball court, that was filled with boys our age. I took a seat on a swing and opened my bag of Flamin' Hot's Hot Fries. Ny'Andrea and Aja sat on the side of me. "So, guess what?" Ny'Andrea said. "What?" me and Aja both said interested. Drea always had the gossip and was always willing to share. "I kissed Demetrius. Well he kissed me." Me and Aja gasped. For as long as we've known them, they've always denied their feelings.

"He was telling me that he always liked me but didn't know if I like him or some shit like that." I motioned with my hand telling her to continue. "That's it. That's all that happened." I furrowed my eyebrows. "We was smoking. After he said that I took my black ass to sleep." I shook my head at her. I took my phone out of my pocket and went on Twitter. Same stupid ass bitches, same ignorant ass niggas. I saw a shadow hover over me. I looked up to see a brown skin boy with brown dread locks and hazel eyes, standing over me. Beside him was, none other than Rashad. I rolled my eyes. "Wassup Moriah," he said knowing damn well I don't like him. I rolled my eyes. "Still ain't apart of my fan club, I see." I continued to scroll down my TL.

Once I looked up, Aja and Rashad were gone. "Fuck," Drea whined. "What?" She sighed. "My momma said I gotta come home. She probably found that weed in my basketball shorts pocket. Well, I'll see you later." She gave me a hug and I said goodbye.

The boy with dread locks sat on the swing next to me. "Hi, I'm Moriah." I greeted as I held my hand out. He didn't shake it, he just nodded. "You live around here?" He asked. "Yeah, on Ferguson by Trenton Park." "So you live in them nice ass houses." I laughed and nodded. "Where you live dread locks?" He pointed across the street to a tan two story house. "It's Chance by the way." We talked for about an hour. When Rashad and Aja finally appeared, Chance and Rashad left. "You lucky he was nice." I said to her. "What you mean I'm lucky?"

"You lucky he was nice to me or I would've beat yo ass, leaving me with a nigga I don't know." She shrugged. "You mean Chance? He cool. I ain't expect us to be gone that long. I'm sorry."

"What y'all talk about anyways?" I asked. "He was all like 'I miss you' and stuff like that and how he want us to be together." I rolled my eyes. "I told him I'll think about it. But I don't know, I heard he back with Lipton." Leighton was Rashad's on and off side chick. Aja always called her Lipton, I don't know why but that shit was funny. "Where Drea at?"

"Her mom said she had to go home. She said she think her momma found some weed in her pocket." I drank some of my Arizona Tea that was warm from being in the sun. We walked back to my house.

A few hours later, Aja went home because she had to finish a project. I was currently upstairs in my room watching Brown Sugar, my favorite movie. I played with my necklace that my dad bought for me years ago. "Moriah and Brendon!" My mom yelled from the kitchen down stairs. My brother walked out his room before me. Once we got to the kitchen, my mom told us dinner was ready. Dinner was very tense, my mother wasn't speaking much. After eating, me and my step dad cleaned the kitchen.

When we were done, we both went our separate ways. I got ready for bed and laid down. From the room across the hall I heard yelling and a loud thump. Brendon, my younger brother creeped into my bedroom, with tears running down his face. "Sissy, can I sleep with you? Mommy and Daddy are yelling again." I sighed and nodded. He climbed in my bed, next to me. Moments, later my room was filled with soft snores.
