"I am back!" I walked into the locker room.

Breakers preseason is underway and I am so excited to be back.

"Yay!" Brooke jumped on me. "I missed you!"

"I missed you too." I laughed. "Now get off."

Everyone laughed. "Y/N!" Matt smiled. "You're back."

"Yes, sir."

"Doctors?"

"Cleared me to play. I am 100%, I feel great, let's get to work!"

"You heard her ladies. Let's get to work."

Kelley's POV:

I sighed and sat down. "You good Kel?"

"I'm 27, almost 28, I miss my sons and my wife, I hate the beep test." I laid back on the field.

"Cap!" Sam yelled. "Kelley is officially broken!" She jogged away.

Christie jogged over. "What's going on Kel?"

"I don't know how much gas I have left in the tank." I sat up. "I miss my kids. Mike is turning 17 this year and I'm missing it all." I sighed. "Plus, I just want to sleep in the same bed as my wife every night. I hate being away from her."

"I get it Kel." She sat next to me. "A big reason I retired was to be with my kids. But it was also because I was in my 40s and knew it was time." I laughed. "You're 28, I think you should talk to Cheney about this."

"I will. Thanks, Cap."

"Anytime kid."

After practice, I went back to the frat house and asked Cheney if she was available to Skype.

"What's up Kel?" She answered.

"I don't know how much longer I can play." I said.

"Are you injured?"

"I miss my kids, Cheney." I said. "I'm missing everything. They're growing up so fast and I'm away from it. I don't want to celebrate another video over Skype. I wanna be there when Mike wakes up for his birthday breakfast, when Jackson blows out the candles, when Chris opens his presents. I want to be THERE."

"I retired to start my family. I was there every second, and I couldn't imagine missing it. Whatever you want to do Kelley, I will support you 100% you know that. I'm more than your coach, I'm your friend. We've been through a lot together." I smiled. "Talk it over with Y/N, think about it and then call me back ok?"

"What would I do without you, Cheney?"

"What would all of you do without me." She scoffed. "You'd all be lost without me." She hung up.

Your POV:

"Yes. Pancakes I know." I put dishes away.

"Mom." Jackson said. "Ma is calling." He pointed to my laptop.

I walked over and answered it. "Hey, babe." I said. "What's up?"

"Just wanted to talk to you about something." She said.

"Ok. What's up?"

She started talking about her career. "I just feel like it might be time for me. I miss you guys, I hate being away from everyone. Mike is gonna be 17. I wanna be there for his birthday breakfast."

"We're having pancakes!" Mike sat next to me.

"You already decided? Your birthday is months away."
