I gulped nervously as I tilted my head back and looked up at the two massive trees, the size of olden day sky scrapers I had seen illustrated in books, symboling the entrance to the town of Bonamana. My eyes ran down the gap between them and I let out a big breath as my eyes came to a stop at the busy town a hundred metres in front of me.
I looked to my right as Sungmin stepped past me and walked through the middle of the two trees, I watched with wide eyes as L.joe did the same, leaving Kyuhhun and I standing there side by side in the early morning fog.
I turned my head towards him and he was looking straight ahead, he glanced at me and offered a very small smile. I looked down as he reached his hand towards mine, he clasped my hand in his and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
I looked up and smiled at him nervously before looking straight ahead. I raised my chin and straightened my shoulders, narrowing my eyes at he town and taking a breath I stepped forward, my hand slipping from Kyuhyun's.I walked with my eyes closed past the two trees, my fingers wrapping around the hilt of my sword in its sheath that Kyuhyun had given me earlier. I opened them when I had walked past, and stared at the town. Kyuhyun jogged slightly to catch up with me and fell into step beside me, his feet in time with mine.
Ten metres in front of us was Sungmin and L.joe, I could tell by the spring in their step that they were eager to be home, I sighed sadly to myself and looked else where. As we got even closer to the town I was taken away by it. The street was outlined by small shops and fairy lights were hung from the roofs of the houses above them, blinking at me through the morning fog. I looked around me as I walked into the town, my eyes going to the left and slowly looking to the right. I had never seen something like this.
People were at the shops, their hoods drawn up against the cold, buying, scanning and talking friendly to the owner or other customers.
It suddenly seemed as everything around me was slow motion, the slow meet of two hands sealing a deal, my hair blowing in my face as my eyes blinked and glanced to the side as a door was opened, a young girl skipping past, her short blonde hair rising and falling as she made each step.
The high pitched laugh of the girl echoed slowly to my ears as she ran past with her older brother chasing her, now that hurt. The mothers voice calling for them to stay safe."I love you, stay safe!"
My heart clenched, and I felt like I couldn't breathe.
I love you. Stay safe.
The last sentence my mother said to me, the sentence that practically ended my normal life, the sentence that- that made me what I was."look after your sister!"
'look after your sister' the last sentence my mum had said to Jayden, my brother as he had stood beside me, his arm around my shoulders as our mum laid on her death bed.Suddenly my body was jerked back, my shoulder connecting hard with someone else's, I stumbled back and time returned.
I tripped over a rock and fell backward but before I could hit the ground a rough hand grabbed my wrist. I looked up at a man in his late thirties. I scowled as he leaned down and put his face close to mine, he reeked of smoke and alcohol, his reeking, hot breath on my face making me turn away."did it hurt?" He sneered
"did what hurt?" I asked and turned my face to face him.
"did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" He sneered and reached forward to stroke my cheek.
"Kyuhyun!" I yelled. I was started to get a little creeped out.
His hand was curling around my neck and the other was slowly drawing up my arm. He smirked and trailed his finger along my cheek, I raised my arm and with growl punched him across the face.
He stumbled backwards as I shook my hand to try rid it of the pain. I then caught sight of Kyuhyun frantically looking around for me, his eyes spotted me and I saw him relax. He walked quickly over to me and glanced at the man holding his face.
