Maple Freaking Syrup (Completed!)

Holy crap, guys! I just realized that I have 600 reads on this book! How on earth did I not notice that until now??? That's amazing! The most reads I've ever gotten on any book before! Okay, I'll stop ranting now and let you get to your fanfiction. Bye!

So we end up ordering pancakes from that place that Mattie mentioned, and he's right. They are awesomely good at making pancakes. Who knew you could order pancakes? Apparently in Canada you can. Birdie has a surprising amount of maple syrup in his pantry. He pours like an entire bottle on one pancake, half of one on Kumajiro's, then hands a bottle to me and looks at me expectantly.

I only pour a little on my five pancakes, and Gilbird flies around my head again. That blasted bird, he's going to get himself hurt one of these days.

But the food is really good, and that's what matters. It's awesome watching Matthew eat his pancakes. He's so adorable when he eats. Oh, what am I thinking? There's no way he'll ever think of me that way. Well, what does it matter. The awesome me doesn't need that kind of stuff. I frown at the thought.

I almost forgot that Gil doesn't like maple syrup as much as I do. He puts what looks like a drop compared to what I put on mine. It's amazing how he can live without so much maple. Maybe it has something to do with where he lives? Canada has a hundred thousand maple trees everywhere, so we kinda tend to get a lot of maple all the time.

I finish my pancakes before Gil does, and just sit there watching him eat while his eyes are locked on the plate in front of him. Every now and then he frowns, and I also frown, wondering what he's frowning about. But when he's not frowning, his face is relaxed and happy, and I feel a little flutter in my chest that he's happy.

But then I'm frowning about more then whatever Gil is. He doesn't like me that way. He just wants us to be friends. And I'm fine with that.

But then, why do I feel so disappointed?

Sorry that this chapter is still pretty short, I had no ideas for this one. I've been working on this same chapter for nearly two weeks, and it's still not much better than it was before I started fixing it.
