Gilbert
My ringing phone wakes me up from my sleep. Blue had run Matt and I so tired last night, because he had wanted to play tag in the yard. It was fun, for pretending to run slower then the kid. I think he ran himself tired, because we all sat down on the couch to watch a movie, and before long we were all asleep. I drag my phone out of my pocket and look at the caller ID. Arthur Kirkland. I answer it.
"The awesome me is awake. What's up, my slightly less awesome friend?"
His British accent is a little thick today. "Hello, Gilbert." It's also thick with emotion, and sounds quite tired.
"Arthur, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Gilbert. I just ran into bloody Frog Face, who decided it was a good idea to smash a pie in my face. Then he had the stupidity to ask me to marry him. Does he not know that I hate him?"
Beside me, Matthew is awake and is listening to my side of the conversation. "I'm sure he was just joking about the marriage thing, Arthur."
My ear practicly explodes as Arthur does. "WHAT?! How can you say that kind of thing?! I already love Alf-someone else, and Francis knows that!"
Matthew takes the phone from me and speaks quietly into it, "Arthur, would you like to drop by today?"
Matthew
"Sure, let me just grab a few things, and I'll be on my way."
"Great, see you around one?"
"Yes. Oh, I look forward to meeting this Blue Young that Kiku called about."
"Okay. See you later." I hang up, turning to Gil. "Arthur's stopping by, and apparently the news of Blue has reached him."
"The awesome child has made an awesome breakthrough in history, or will in a short amount of time. I'm not surprised that anyone knows about him."
Suddenly, I'm attacked by a small child, and I crash into Gil. Our faces just inches away from each other's, I freeze, and so does he. His lips are so close, and yet so far away at the same time. It's hard not to rush into it, but there is no way that that'd end very good at all. Then Blue's giggle breaks the spell, and I stand up quickly, bringing Blue around in my arms. I can feel the blush creeping up my neck, covering my face. To hide it from Gil, I hold Blue like a little airplane and 'fly' him through the house, up the stairs, back down, and into the yard.
I stop short once I'm out. My blush is still not gone, but I can blame it on the cold. "Hey, Gil! Grab the coats and scarves!"
A few moments later, he comes out. "Awesome! Snow!"
Blue is getting a piggy back ride now, his arms around my neck. He tilts his head up to the sky, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I wish Catlandia got this much snow. It's pretty."
"How much snow do you get?" I ask. I can't imagine living somewhere where there's next to nothing for snow.
"Only one snow like this, and it's usually right around the middle of our winter. I guess our island is just too far out in the sea to get much snow." He sighs.
"That doesn't sound very fun. Even Germany gets more snow then that." Gilbert sounds a little resigned when he mentions his brother, Ludwig's, country. I feel a flash of sympathy for him, remembering how his country had been dissolved. He still existed, but his country didn't. It's sad, and I try to comfort him when I can.
In order to bring him out of his thoughts of the past, I set Blue down on the ground, make a snowball, and throw it right at Gil's face. It shatters, spraying snow everywhere. Blue giggles, then makes a snowball of his own and throws it at me.
"Oh, the awesome me is going to awesomely win this awesome snowball fight!"
And the snowballs start flying.
