Clarke watched Bellamy walk across the street, not even caring that he knew she was watching him. For the last few weeks, her life had gone back into their old routine of spending everyday together.
They went to school, sometimes carpooling. They went to work, then they spent the evenings together. They worked on homework together, ate, watched movies, and played games. Bellamy had brought over a few of his newest games, thrilling Clarke.
They were just as close as they had been in the years before, but Clarke was running more and more after Bellamy left every night. She was a raging pit of hormones lately and she didn't even care.
Clarke hasn't slept with anyone in two years, only Bellamy, and only that one time. They had been kissing, and damn they had been touching. Bellamy had been setting her body on fire, but he hadn't tried to further things.
It was too much for Clarke, she was ready to pounce him like a hungry tiger.
"You and Bellamy seem to be doing well," Abby spoke up behind her. "Glad you're back together."
Were they officially together? Clarke was sure of it, they just hadn't talked about it. "Yeah, it's really nice."
"Your birthday is on a few days. Is there anything you would like?"
Clarke shrugged. "I don't think so, Mom. I haven't really thought of anything I want, but if you'd like to pick out a book I would be thrilled."
Abby nodded. "Aurora wants to come bring you a cake. She'll of course bring Bellamy over as well."
Clarke smiled. "Thanks. Well, I need to go."
"Another run?"
"Yeah, I need to clear my head."
Abby checked her watch. "Its already 10:30. Are you sure?"
Clarke nodded, patting her mother's shoulder. "Don't wait up, okay? I'll be back soon, I've got school."
Clarke didn't wait for an answer, she just took off down the stairs and down the sidewalk.
Her phone flashed, her battery was low. Five percent as she turned a corner. Clarke ignored it, she would charge it as soon as she got home. She continued on, jogging down the familiar paved path, passing the familiar headstones.
She stopped when she read her father's name. The lamp nearby shed enough light that she was able to see his face.
Laying down in the cool grass, she looked up at the stars. "Hey," she started. "I'm sorry that my relationship with Mom still hasn't improved very much," she sighed. "She shut herself from me, you know? And then she ripped me away from Bellamy and even you. Things between Bellamy and I are so good, though. I wasn't sure the first few days back, you know with the girlfriend. But damn, I love him. It's so weird to try and sit back and think of how I even feel, it's like my whole world is full when I'm with him. He still talks about you, he comforts me, and when he looks at me, it's like there's nothing mkre precious in this world than me." Clarke felt herself bubble with laughter. "God I sound like an idiot out of a sappy movie! But, I guess I can't help it."
Clarke yawned, rubbing the nearly trimmed grass under her palms. "I miss you, Dad. I know you know this, but I do. If you were here I'm sure you would laugh at me for being sappy, but then you'd hug me and tell me how you felt about Mom."
She sighed again, rolling over to her side. "I think Marcus Kane, the surgeon she always competed with, likes her. He got promoted while we were away, but I think he knows Mom should have gotten it. She doesn't hold a grudge, but he's overly nice to her. Even to me." Clarke fell silent, her mind processing too many thoughts at once.
