All the first years woke up refreshed and got prepared for the day ahead of them. They were starting their classes and had gotten their timetables the day before. Each year of a house had their own schedule. All shared one specific class. Potions. Older years took advanced classes but it still had the same person teaching them. Professor Snape. The Slytherin head of house, who took points off of Gryffindor for no reason most of the time.

Harry was excited for his first day at his magical school with his cousin, Dudley. He wanted so much to have a good time, and to have a good day with his new friends. He hoped he could make more friends as the day went by. He really wanted to be welcomed by his housemates. He wanted to be accepted. He wanted to be with his cousin just as much. Dursley really wanted to be with him too. He wanted to protect Harry. He wanted to be like his brother, even though they were both cousins and only child's.

At breakfast, the Slytherins all talked to their housemates and friends. Mainly people in their year. Harry sat to the left of Dudley. Hermione had been sitting in the seat to the left of Harry before he had sat down. "Hello Hermione. Good morning" said Harry cheerfully. "Hi Hermione" said Dudley. "Oh, hello boys. Good morning to you too. I hope you had a good nights rest" said Hermione nicely. "Sure did" said Harry. "Me too. I like this school" said Dudley. "Yeah. Much better than our old Muggle school" said Harry gladly. Dudley nodded.

"What was it like there?" asked Hermione curiously. "Everyone was either ignored or was mean to me" said Harry. "And everyone was scared of me" said Dudley. "Oh, that's terrible" said Hermione. "Yeah, But we're here now. Everyone seems to act better than that" said Harry. "They seem different from others at my school, too" said Hermione, but she didn't show much emotion or any sort of expression as to what effect it made to her. Harry thought it was odd, but got rid of the thought.

Soon Draco came to sit down, making his way to their part of the table and sat down across from Harry. "Morning, Harry. Dudley" said Draco. He payed no mind to their friend, Hermione. The other muggleborn in his house. There was only one other muggleborn in their house. Surprisingly, he was a fifth year. Actually, he was the Prefect for their house. His name was Christian Graves. He was very well behaved and didn't get angered by people that easily. It was scary when he was angry.

When the Slytherins all finished breakfast at the Great Hall, they walked with those of their own year to their first class. Hermione was quiet and avoided eye contact with all of them. She didn't realize that Harry and Dudley were trying to get her attention as they were attempting to catch up to her. They finally approached her through the small crowd of Slytherin first years. "Hey, Hermione!" said Harry. "Oh, hey Harry. Hey Dudley" said Hermione carefully looking up. "What's wrong?" asked Harry. "Nothing. I just want to get to class on time" said Hermione. Harry and Dudley believed her, as she's already informed them that she's read a book at Hogwarts. They figured she was a try hard, smart girl. They respected that, and nodded as they continued to class.

Arriving at their first class, Transfiguration, they all took a seat and saw that their teacher was not there. Instead, they saw a black striped, grey cat. They all watched curiously until the cat leapt in the air and landed on two legs. The cat had turned into a stern looking woman. It was Professor McGonnagal, the lady who called their names to be sorted. "Take a seat, now. We'll be learning about all sorts of things in this class, but for now, let's start with something simple" said the lady walking in front of her desk.

The students all whispered about how she was just a cat. "There will be no talking in my class or I shall take off house points" said McGonnagal. Almost everyone was quietly attentive, understanding what was said. A few were left confused. They didn't know what was said and didn't know what it had meant. A little slowly, and embarrassingly, a hand shot in the air. The professor took notice and called out the student and asked them what they needed.
