It was dark outside of the Hogwarts castle. Not too dark, but still not a bright sunny day. It was the morning, even though it seemed around night. The only reason for that was the fact it was snowing on a cloudy day. It was Christmas Day. Harry Potter was the first of the entire castle to wake and had nearly jumped for joy when he remembered what day it was. He got off his bed and shook his cousin awake. "Dudley! Dudley, it's Christmas!" whisper-shouted Harry, having gotten used to his other dorm mates, who had no use or need to get the others up.

His cousin woke up in seconds and threw his sheets over him and he ran with his younger cousin to their pile of presents at the foot of their bed. They were amazed by the fact they even got so many when they couldn't even buy any for anyone. They saw a few notes with names on them. Harry saw one was by the name 'Lucius Malfoy' and assumed it was Draco's father. He opened his gift and saw a long, fancy, green box. He noted it was about the size of his wand and realized it was a wand case. He smiled at the gift, and made a note to himself to write a thank you letter to him afterwards.

He looked up and saw Dudley had opened a gift wrapped similarly to his first gift. It was similar to his wand case, except it was a different shade of green. It was a lighter shade. He noticed it had his initials engraved on the corner, and looked back at his to see his had is own initials as well. "You like what father got you guys, I'm guessing" said Draco's voice behind them. They turned and saw he had woken up along with the other boys. "Yeah. Remind me to write a thank you letter" said Harry. Draco looked a bit confused and surprised. "You know that we don't usually do thank-you's. You don't have to" said Draco. "Yeah, I know. I just want to thank him for the first and best present I've ever gotten for Christmas" said Harry smiling.

Dudley looked up from his third opened gift and saw Harry looking up, trying to be polite. He knew Harry must've felt happy enough to cry. He had never once gotten a present. Not unless his very first birthday counted. Draco and their other dorm mates felt sorry for Harry. They didn't think muggles were that cruel. Now they hated them even more than before. "Come on, open the rest of your presents. Nearly every Slytherin in our year should've gotten you one. That's what this house usually does, so I've heard" said Draco extending his arms in the air when he said 'every Slytherin.'

Harry couldn't help but feel wanted, needed. He got what he had always wanted in his life. Acceptance. He didn't think he'd ever get it. Not with the idea his uncle gave him about him being a very bad child. He believed him and thought every word true. He thought everything that he said was for him to believe and trust in.

Now hat he was in Hogwarts, though, he had learned that somethings that he once knew were wrong. He still believed he wasn't that good of a child, no matter what anyone told him. Not Draco, who had became like a real best friend to Harry. He was actually supportive and mischievous and always knew how to have fun and knew when he wasn't feeling well and knew he was more than 'The-Boy-Who-Lived.' Not if his head of house was paying him attention and talked to him, would he believe otherwise. Not if Dumbledore, the Headmaster himself, were to tell him. Not even if Dudley were to tell him for the millionth time, would he listen.

Harry looked back to the rest of his gifts and opened almost all of them with an excited and thankful mood. It was the last one that he was about to open that he became curious. It seemed a bit odd. He hadn't seen a name right away like all the other ones had. He opened his gift carefully with the other boys all waiting by their own open piles of gifts. Dudley had gotten another gift, that he had left unopened until Harry was finished with his. It had been wrapped the same way as Harry's last one, both in the same slightly crumbled paper.

Finally holding his hand out, Harry reached to the string holding the present together. He wondered what it was, for it looked like it could have been a sort of clothing. He pulled on the string and it all came loose and a fabric stuck out slightly. He carefully unwrapped the paper and picked up the gift. It was indeed an article of clothing. A cloak, it seemed like to Harry.
