This is it, thought Harry. This is the moment I've been waiting for. He approached the moving staircase with hidden anxiety over what might go wrong, but he continued anyways. Dudley was in front of him, leading the way to Cho Chang, the girl he wanted to ask to the Yule Ball.

"Miss Chang, if we could take only a moment of your time," said Dudley in the nicest manner he ever displayed. The group of Ravenclaws he approached all turned to face the two Slytherins, and gasped when they saw Harry Potter holding a bouquet of flowers in different shades of blue. He was wearing his school robes, but with his hand he removed it and revealed a shirt saying "Will you do the honor of being my date to the ball Cho Chang?"

It was in blue letters and Harry had thought it would be good enough to win at least one dance at the ball with her as his date. Her smiled she gave him was so kind and warm. It seemed so fragile and lovely. He adored her cute dimples she had upon her face along with her grin. But even without his ears he could see how her lips formed the word "Sorry" and continued explaining she already has a date, Cedric Diggory.

Harry's heart shattered in an instant, and his Slytherin mask he picked up over the years helped not to show it. He just said "It's fine" and turned around, walked calmly out of her view and hurried with tears to the Slytherin Common Room. The cold dungeon would be a safer place to cry. Not exposed in front of the whole school population. His own people would better understand.

"Harry! Harry wait!" Dudley's calls were inaudible to Harry as he ran. His role as Quidditch Seeker helped him be better for in running, and he was as fast on feet as his broom. Dudley would never catch up to the Cursed Slytherin, as the Gryffindors called him. They thought of him as bad luck, since all these things happened with him around. The school never had so many awful accidents to occur.

When the orphan boy reached his dormitory, he fell before his bed and broke in tears. He had embarrassed himself in front of his crush. She would never like him. Not even as a friend. He made such a mockery of himself, and even some Gryffindors were there to experience the good laugh they expected. Harry was a mess!

No one could get him to calm down for the whole day. He only stayed in his dormitory once classes were done for and stayed crying in bed all alone. He asked Dudley not to bother him. Draco and the other boys he shared the room with felt awful about everything, and threatened every last Gryffindor who dared make fun of him. The female population of the snake house all glared at Ravenclaws, but most especially on Cho and her gang of friends.

Hermione and Pansy were the closest in getting him any better, but it still wasn't much use. He learned how to dance for the occasion and had no heart to ruin another girl's time and ask for a date.

"Guys, just go and find your own date to attend the ball with. Don't waste your time trying to fix me" Harry finally spoke. The girls, Dudley, and Draco all surrounded him and gave him a large hug simultaneously.

"We're not going anywhere, Harry" said his cousin. Despite his sadness, he smiled and felt grateful they were his friends. They were true and loyal. He couldn't have anything better.

"Thanks guys. But you all spent money on fancy clothes for the ball. Why waste it?" Harry thought he would convince them all to at least enjoy their time at the Yule Ball but the eye roll they all shared confused him.

"You really think that we would plan on going without you? We all pitched in and got you the best tuxedo they had to offer. The only one that would suit you. Come on, get dressed. It starts in an hour, and we are not going to be leaving you behind" said Draco with a proud smirk for preparing.

In an hour, everyone was done rushing about, and met in the common room to leave together. The boys all wore fancy and yet comfortable attire that had different color ties, but shared the same color of silver cufflinks. Harry was distinguished in grey, Draco in blue, and Dudley in green.
