"Shocking business...absolutely shocking...a miracle none of them died...never heard of the like...by thunder, it was lucky you were there, Snape..."
"Thank you, Minister,"
"Order of Merlin, Second Class, I'd say. First Class, if I can wangle it!"
"Thank you very much indeed, Minister,"
"Nasty cut you've got there...Black's work, I suppose?"
"As a matter of fact, it was Potter, Granger, and Weasley, Minister..."
"No!"
"Black had bewitched them...I saw it immediately. A Confundus Charm, to judge by their behavior. They all seemed to think there was a possibility he was innocent. They weren't responsible for their actions. On the other hand, their interference might have permitted Black to escape...they obviously thought they were going to catch Black single-handed. They've all gotten away with a great deal before..."
I had woken up. Although I was yet to open my eyes, I could now hear everything that was going on. I was in a bed - the Hospital Wing, I assume, listening to Snape tell lies to the Minsiter of Magic. I felt groggy, and it was almost difficult to hear what they were saying. Just as Snape began to talk about the Dementors and how they had, for some unknown reason, moved away from myself, Harry, Hermione, and Sirius and left us untouched, my eyes opened. Aha! I was in the Hospital Wing.
I looked to my left, where Harry was in a bed too. He seemed to be just waking up as well. Ginny and Daniel were fast asleep opposite me, Madam Pomfrey was across the room too, tending to Ron. Hermione lay on the other side of Harry, lying still with her eyes open. When she noticed that both Harry and I were awake, she put her finger to her lips and motioned towards the door. That's where Snape and the Minister were. Madam Pomfrey looked over at us, and made a celebratory noise.
"You're both awake! Marvelous. Eat up!" She walked over to the table between our two beds, where she placed a very large chocolate ball on the table, and began smashing it up with a hammer.
"How are the others, Madam Pomfrey?" Hermione asked, sitting up in her bed.
"Ron will live," she said grimly, "The other two are fortunately not injured, but Professor Dumbledore insists I keep them here to watch them. I believe they are just suffering from lack of sleep. As for you three, you'll be staying here until I'm happy you - Potter, what on Earth do you think you're doing?"
Harry was sitting up, putting his glasses on and grabbing his wand. He announced that he needed to see the Headmaster immediately.
Madam Pomfrey gave him a sympathetic smile. "Potter, it's alright, really! They've got Black. He's locked away upstairs. The Dementors will be performing the Kiss any moment now -"
"WHAT?" Harry, Hermione, and I all yelled. I was already out of bed, on my feet, so too were Hermione and Harry. Our shout had been heard from outside, and Professor Snape and the Minister hurried inside to see what the commotion was.
"Harry, Harry, what's this?" said the Minister, looking agitated, "You should be in bed - has he had any chocolate?" he asked Madam Pomfrey anxiously.
"Minister, you have to listen! Sirius Black is innocent! Peter Pettigrew faked his own death! We saw him tonight! You can't let the Dementors do that thing to Sirius, he's-"
The Minister was shaking his head with a small smile. "Harry, Harry, you're confused, that's all. You've been through a terrible ordeal, lie back down now. You don't need to worry, we have everything under control,"
