"Wake up everyone!" came Mrs. Weasley's shout, early in the morning. Her footsteps followed her yelling. She knocked on everyone's doors, waking us all up properly.
Yawning, I said to Ginny, " What's the time?"
"About half past 6," Ginny answered. I groaned silently. It was too early to be awake in the holidays. Just as I started drifting off, Ginny spoke, waking me up for the second time.
"We'd better get dressed," she said to me. I nodded sleepily and walked over to my drawers, pulling out a pair of my favourite jeans and a tee shirt. Once I was dressed, I brushed my hair and pulled it into a ponytail.
"Ready?" I asked Ginny.
"Yep," she said. Grabbing our suitcases, we raced down the stairs.
"'Morning girls!" Mr Weasley said brightly.
"Good morning Dad," Fred said from behind us, grinning. I guessed that he was now a girl, because he had replied to Arthur when he had clearly said 'girls'.
"Everyone ready to go?" Mrs Weasley asked us as she bustled around the kitchen.
"Yeah!" we all chorused.
"Mrs. Weasley?" I asked.
"Yes, dear?"
"How are we getting there?"
"Floo powder." Mrs Weasley said. I nodded, trying to act like I knew what that was.
"You have absolutely no idea what that is, do you?" Arthur asked me.
"Never heard of it," I said truthfully.
"Okay. Well, it's like that stuff from Muggle stories...ah, fairy dust! But it's just ordinary transport to us. You step into the fireplace, grab a handful of floo powder, throw it in the air and say clearly where you want to go. Today you'll be saying, 'Bill Weasley's House'. That's all you have to do," Mr Weasley explained. I nodded as he talked, taking it all in.
"And you might want to close your eyes and keep both arms tightly by your sides," George said.
"Okay, thanks!" I said.
"Arthur, I think you should go first, then Percy, then Fred, then George, then Ron, then Ginny, then Miranda and I'll go last," Mrs Weasley told us. We all nodded and watched Mr Weasley as he stepped into the old fireplace.
"See you all soon!" he said, before grabbing a handful of Floo powder and disappearing. Percy, Fred, George, Ron and Ginny then followed. Soon it was only Molly and I left. I took a deep breath and stepped into the fireplace.
"Now remember, keep your arms by your sides, your eyes shut, and be extremely careful about speaking clearly." Mrs. Weasley said, smiling. "Take a handful of powder and throw it up, just like the others did. They'll all be waiting for you on the other side," I nodded and said goodbye nervously, before grabbing the powder. I threw it above me and shouted 'Bill Weasley's House.'
A weird sensation came over me. My body tingled and I was being squished and spun around, a bit like some sort of twisted roller coaster. I couldn't resist opening my eyes. I didn't see much, just different fireplaces and green flames. I was forced to shut them though, as the ash stung. After a minute or so I tumbled out of a yellow fireplace and entered a room filled with red headed Weasleys. I grinned and brushed the ash off my face.
"Hi, you must be Miranda!" A man I didn't know said, shaking me by the hand. "You've probably heard of me. I'm Bill Weasley," I gave him an anxious smile, and shook his hand.
"It's good to finally meet you!" I said. Just then Molly came tumbling out of the fireplace, with ash stuck in her hair. She smiled as she came out and rushed over to Bill, kissing his cheek and giving him a huge hug.
"Bill! How are you?" she asked him cheerfully.
"I've been good mum. How about you?" he asked her.
"Brilliant!" she said, still grinning from ear to ear.
"How about you go get unpacked? Ginny and Miranda, your room is up the stairs to the left, Ron and Percy's is up the stairs on the right, and Fred and George your room's right there," Bill said, pointing to where we should go to. I followed Ginny up the steps and we entered our room. It was quite big compared to Ginny's room back at the Burrow.
The walls were wooden, but the floor was tiled. There were two double beds, both with stripy duvets and pillows. Each had a bedside table and a little reading lamp. Towards the left there was a glass door leading to a small balcony, overlooking the pyramids in the distance. The time difference between The Burrow and here was only an hour, and the morning sun was just starting to filter through the drawn blinds.
"This is awesome." I said, my eyes scanning the room. I was grinning. I just could not keep the smile off of my face. And to think we were going to be staying here for 2 weeks!
"I know right? It's really cool!" Ginny said, her smile as big as mine.
"Is this really Bill's house?" I asked her.
"Well, no. His real place is a tiny apartment in London somewhere, but he's hardly ever there. Gringotts gives him this place for free. It's hidden from Muggles too," she replied.
"He's pretty lucky," I said. "I want this bed!" I jumped on the bed closest to the entrance. Chuckling, Ginny hopped onto the other one.
"Do you want to go explore?" I asked, sitting up straight.
"Sure!" Ginny replied. I nodded at her and walked to the balcony door. The deck area was small and had two beach chairs on it. I sat down and let the early-morning sun cover my skin. It was already pretty warm, and it wasn't even 8am yet. We were in for some hot days!
About ten minutes later, Mrs. Weasley called us down for breakfast. I had a feeling we were going to have a brilliant two weeks.
