Chapter Two

I rolled over, my eyes squinted open, I closed them again and opened them quickly. Quinn was kneeling on the ground in front of me.
" good you're awake, we got to get to school " she said.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes, I looked over at her, " school? ".
I set my feet down and got changed, I walked out of the small bathroom. I sat down on my bed, " so how do these school morning work? " I asked.
" well we get out of our rooms at 7 then at 8 we go to school for 6 hours " she said.
" how do I know what class i'm in? " I asked.
" don't worry we go by rooms so will be with everyone in the class " she smiled.
The door swung open, it was 7, " come on we got to get a good spot " Quinn grabbed my arm and pulled me into the eating hall, where everyone already was. How were they there so fast the doors had just opened, they must be really close.
We joined them at the table as people came around dropping off breakfast food in front of everyone.
" so Vivian are you ready for your first day, I going to be different than the real world " Samuel said.
" it can't be that different, can it? " I questioned.
" guess you'll just have to see for yourself " Winny smiled and took a bite of her toast.
Trevor was beside me, he was reading a book and eating cereal, " hey what book are you reading? " I asked.
He looked up at me like he had known me his whole life, " one of the maze runner books, it's a classic " Trevor smiled then continued to read. He was so sweet and kind, yes he was quiet, but that didn't matter.

" ok come on he is by far one of the best people in the show how could you not disagree " Leila said.
" what are you guys talking about? " Quinn asked.
" a book and Leila doesn't think- you know what will talk about this later, we should get to class " Winny smiled.
" yeah you're probably right " Samuel said.
When we all got up I realized that Blake wasn't even there, guess this is normal for everyone because they weren't even fazed by it.
I followed everyone down the hallway and into a big room with about thirdy seats, I followed everyone to the top of the room, and sat down in the second seat from the end, " where's the teacher? " I leaned over to Samuel.
" just wait for it " he said looking forwards, a screen started to come down from the ceiling at the front of the room.
" our teacher isn't really hear " I whispered.
" just because the teacher isn't here doesn't mean he can't see us " Samuel whispered back.
" welcome back class as you all know i'm Mr.Crash-" he was cut off by the door opening, Blake walked in and up to the top and sat down beside me and put his feet up on the chair in front of him.
" Blake late once again I see, now let's get started, open your textbooks " Mr.Crash said.
The textbooks were under the seats everyone pulled them out, even Blake something was off with him, but I couldn't pinpoint it.
I looked around the room to see little things, like the background behind the teacher, what he was wearing they way he moved everything. I needed to know why I was here. There had to be a bigger reason.
The room was quiet as everyone worked, I looked around again, I didn't understand what we were doing or why we even had school here. I guess we still have to be educated.

I got out of the chair I had been sitting in for 6 hours, we walked down the hallway.
" hey i'm going to the library for a little does anyone want to come with me? " Trevor asked.
" don't we have to be back in our rooms? " I asked.
" no we have to be back in our rooms at 3 " Quinn smiled.
" well we can't come were going to study hall for a little " Leila said looking over at Winny.
" I can't, going to play soccer in the den " Samuel said.
" Vivian? " Trevor asked.
" sure, I have nothing better to do " I smiled.
" I'll come too, I just need a second " Quinn smiled.
Trevor and I walked into library and sat down on the couch, he pulled out the book he was reading earlier.
" why do you enjoy that book so much, you know they've made movies right? " I asked.
" when reading I can see the characters how I want to see them the movie just brings that person to life" he said.
" ok guess you're right " I sighed and looked over to see Quinn and Blake talking by the entrance.
They looked like they were fighting, Blake yelled one final word than walked away. Quinn walked over to us and sat down in the maroon chair, letting out a big sigh.
" hey are you good, it looked like you and Blake were fighting " I said.
" yeah i'm fine he's like a brother to me we fight all the time " Quinn gave a quick smile, Trevor looked up from his book, made quick eye contact with Quinn then continued reading.
" Vivian what are you doing for work? " Quinn asked.
" work? " I asked.
" forgot your new here, we get a job for a year then we switch, what are you going to pick? " Quinn asked.
Trevor looked up at me with excitement.
" you should be an inter in the control room, it's lots of fun " Trevor spilled out.
" or, you could work in the library " Quinn suggested with an abrupt ton.
" I actually like the control room idea how do I sign up? " I asked looking over at Trevor.
" tomorrow I can show you around " Trevor smiled.
" sure " I smiled.
" well guess that was easy " Quinn smiled.
" wait, Quinn what job are you doing? " I asked.
" I clean the den everyone weekend " she sighed.
" sounds like a fun job " we all laughed.

We walked back into our room at 3, I sat down at the desk near the end of my bed. Quinn flopped down onto her bed, she laid on her back and crossed her feet.
" so how are you liking it here? " she asked.
" it's really fun, I still miss my brother, but I can't do anything about that " I said.
" you'll see him again, they can't keep us in here forever, can they? " she asked.
" well the government is strict if they don't want this sickness out we have to stay here " I said.
" you don't have to stay here, your here by mistake " she reminded me.
" nothings a mistake, there has to be a reason why i'm here- " I stopped talking.
" and i'm going to figure out why " I said.
Quinn sat up " your going to what? " she asked.
" you heard me, i'm going to work in the control room, I can do some snooping " I said getting up and walking around. Quinn got up abruptly and stopped me from walking around.
" Vivian you have to promise me you won't do that " she said.
" why not? " I asked.
" it's just your first full day you don't know what's going threw your head " she said.
" but I do know what's going threw my head " I said.
" please just promise you won't, I don't want anything bad to happen " she said something about her face made be believe her, she looked worried.
" fine I won't, I just want to know why i'm here " I said.
" and will figure that out, just not right now ok " she said.
" ok " I smiled, Quinn was like the big sister I never had, one day in, and she already feels like my best friend.
We both sat down and took a deep breath.
" how you doing now? " she broke the silence.
" good " I smiled, " good " she smiled back, I looked down at my feet, why didn't she want me to do that? Why didn't she want me to look into things? Something bigger was going on, I needed to know
