You didn't come back

“Robert?”

Jessica quickly moved next to him, watching him as he weakly moved his head and hands, only opening his gorgeous brown eyes after.

Pain, weakness, but mainly surprise filled his eyes as he saw Jessica in front of him, a smile on her face and her eyes red.

“Hey” She smiled at him

Robert looked at her, before noticing all the tubes and catheters connected to his body. Panic filled his expression as he tried to move to remove it all

“No, Robert, hey…” Jessica quickly touched his hands for him to stop “I know it might be a little uncomfortable, but you really need those"

He softly stopped, looking at her again, weakly but intensely “J-Jess?”

She felt like bursting into tears and pulling him into a tight hug. His eyes seduced her already, even by just staring at her

She caressed his hair, though. “How are you feeling?”

“Hmm” he whispered “A-Am I delirious a-again?”

She smiled “No, I am really here. You gave us all quite a scare…” She whispered

“W-What happened?”

“Your heart stopped, on the field.” She softly said “It is a long story, so let’s go easy, ok?”

He looked at her, his eyes softly closing

“Robert? Stay here…” he asked

He made an effort to open his eyes again “It… h-hurts” He groaned

She gulped, knowing she could not do much about it “I know… I can give you something, but it won't do much…” she sadly said

“J-Jess…” He whispered

“Yes?”

“Y-you left Jess… You left… me”

She gulped, trying as hard as she could to hold her tears. She did not want to cry in front of him, even though her eyes said everything

“W-Why did you c-come back?”

She took a deep breath “I work here Robert…”

“Oh… S-So… you d-didn’t come b-back”

She closed her eyes, those words killing her. It was the truth, though. She never went back to him.

“I’m so sorry, Robert” she whispered “For everything”

“Robert!” Nicole quickly invaded the room, interrupting the moment and involving Robert tightly in her arms “I thought I lost you, baby” she cried

He weakly breathed, still looking at Jessica, who stepped back

“Call me if anything is needed” she walked out

His eyes followed her body. He could not believe she was there.

His body hurt like hell, mainly his chest and head.

But seeing her… made him forget everything.

Made him remember all the feelings he never stopped having.

“How are you baby?” Nicole kissed his face all over

He looked at her eyes, knowing those were not the eyes he wanted to see and those were not the lips he wished here kissing him.

His strength was gone though.

He never felt so much pain and weakness in his life.

He let his eyes win the battle and embraced a deep sleep.
