“He’s our national and international champion, three times winner of the golden boot and two times two times winner of the big golden ball, he’s the warrior who survived on the green field, give it up for Robert Lockhart everyone!” The presenter excitedly said as the crowd of the studio went crazy.
Jessica had returned to his house, now basically hers as well, after the game was over. His parents were also there, making her company. The game was extraordinary and she had an amazing time, next to her boyfriend.
She couldn’t be more proud of him.
It was like every cell on her body jumped whenever she heard someone complimenting him and telling great stories about him.
He had taken her home to change clothes, but left right away for the so much expected interview. She was a bit nervous about it.
She knew Nicole’s name would be brought up, as well as hers.
“It will be ok, honey” Robert’s father smiled at her as she nervously grabbed a pack of chips, watching the interview. She needed calories!
She watched attentively as the first words were just small talk about how he was feeling now and how that night’s game went.
“So, Robert…” The interviewer started “There have been many speculations on your love life, lately”
Robert smiled “Yeah, I guess I noticed”
The interviewer smiled “So the rumors are true?”
Robert smiled widely, not replying right away.
The silence on the room was tense, everyone waited eagerly for his response.
“You know, I was always honest and truthful with Nicole” he said in a deep voice “And she knows that, above of all people. I am not the kind of guy who lies, much less cheats just because there’s a nice pair of boobs near me”
The audience giggled
The interviewer looked at him “Then why all the uproar?”
Robert looked down “You know, five years ago I met this amazingly beautiful girl.” He smiled “I have never really had a girlfriend, just… some fun around” everyone chuckled “But that girl, no… that girl was different” he looked down
Jessica smiled, memories of the day they first met invading her mind.
“I was just a fella working on a sports’ shop, I didn’t think she wanted much to do with me” He smiled “But she did. She was my first girlfriend and the only person who ever really had my heart and love” He looked at the audience.
Jessica smiled, her heart swaying with his words.
“What happened?” The interviewer asked
“Well, we went through a lot, which is not necessary to be said. And we always managed to work things out. We always stick together and went through our problems” He smiled “She always managed to keep me sane and out of trouble” he chuckled “I was just a fella working for surviving, she was a beautiful girl studying at college. I ended up moving to London, I started playing on a small street team, I found a new job and we were closer and happy. Everything was perfect.” He smiled “And then Chelsea found me. The biggest dream of my live was becoming reality. It became reality”
“So… when you first went to Chelsea FC, you did had this girlfriend, even though you said you were single?”
“Yes. I mean, I had no idea what fame was, I had no idea how I would deal with things. So together we both decided it would be better to take things slow and keep quiet at the time” Robert smiled “I went to my training, she was finishing her graduation in nursing school… we remained like that for a long time”
