The Song of the Sun and the Moon

My Place

Originally published as a single book. 

I'm trying to find my place
The one place in the world where I should be
Out there standing up for people
Or snuggled up in your arms
Discovering the answers
Or creating new questions
I can't seem to get it right
I want to be free like a bird
I want to do good for others
I want to use the life I have
To actually use my voice and make it heard
To make other voices heard
And to change the face of this planet
Where is that place in the world?
Is it actually here or up in the stars?
Do I deserve that place up there?
The place where I can make a difference
The place that my heart cries out for
Or am I not worthy of such a choice?
Am I the right person?
Is my heart big enough?
Are my feet on the right path?
I can never know these questions, I know
But they are for you to answer
Will you let me go?
Just for this life, release me
Let me change these people's lives now
For we are soul mates across time and the stars
And we will always find each other
In every life and beyond we are bonded
So for this one release me
That is the sacrifice for the greatest gift
The gift of change and my voice
Because I know, and you know
One voice is all that is needed to show
That the world is ready to sow
A new future, not filled with sorrow
Where everyone is each others foe
But a world where we are one
As reliant on each other as the moon to the sun
The cool of the water to the heat of the fire
So in this cause I will never tire
Until I have made that change.
