Chapter 1

A single howl broke the silence of the night.

The outcry could be heard throughout the country, but the origin came from the small town of Blue Wester. The town's atmosphere that night was nothing like it usually was; there was only sorrow and misery.

In the middle of a forest clearing laid two bodies in a pool of blood.

One alive while the other a lifeless corpse.

One human while the other a werewolf.

Ezra stared down at his lover's face. He squeezed her cold body in his arms as he wept into her neck. The colour in his eyes changed back from a burning crimson to his usual molten gold.

He was covered in blood which belonged to the girl as well as the brown wolf that laid lifeless, a few feet away from them.

The air around the town remained restless as a storm began brewing. As Ezra continued to cry it felt as though the earth grieved along with him. There was no happiness left even for the residents who had no clue about the events that took place could feel an ominous presence within the air.

There was sudden movement in the bushes nearby as two figures appeared at the scene. Ezra sniffed as he sensed their presence.

It was Laura and Damon.

Their eyes widened at the horror of a scene. Laura immediately ran towards Ezra and knelt down to only tear up to see Mia dead in his arms.

Damon made his way to the deceased wolf. He noticed the claw marks around its body, the eyes were rolled back showing only the whites and a tongue hung outside of its mouth.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and turned to look at the only person who could have done this.

Ezra

2 months later

The sunlight crept passed the curtain directly hitting Ezra in the face. He frowned as he mumbled angrily. Shuffling in bed he brought his blanket closer to cover his face and just when he thought he could go back to his peaceful sleep his bedroom door is slammed open.

"Wake up! Breakfast is downstairs."

Laura disappeared back down to the kitchen. Ezra groaned as he struggled getting up, the term break flashed by quickly and Ezra was enjoying being able to sleep in everyday. He loved his bed too much to leave it every morning. However, he didn't want to risk getting a bucket of ice water poured all over him, something that Laura enjoyed doing.

Laura was Ezra's guardian who adopted him after his parents died, not that he really remembered them. He couldn't be anymore grateful to her even though she had a tough personality he loved her like a mother.

Ezra took a quick shower before going into his closet. He was quite simple when it came to clothing and no matter what he chose to wear, he looked good in anything. He did though favoured leather jackets, especially a certain black jacket that was once owned by his late father. It was something that he liked to wear constantly.

After a few seconds in questioning he chose a white plain shirt with black jeans and the black leather jacket on top with white sneakers.

He quickly brushed his hair, but it couldn't be tamed so he just let it be. He grabbed his books from his desk and placed them into his bag. Ezra met with Laura in the kitchen who was talking on the phone about work. She was a police officer and the head investigator, it was the type of job that Ezra thought suited her.
