Ezra

"Let me have a look at it."

Ezra passed his broken collar to Mary. The group sat in silence in Cynthia's small cottage as they tried to grip the situation. Damon had finally recovered enough to be able to move freely. Lincoln stood outside on the porch smoking while watching Cynthia further out in the field talking with some fairies.

"It's quite damaged." Mary scanned. She moved away from Ezra and placed the collar onto a work bench nearby underneath a brighter light and began tinkering away.

Ezra had his head leaned against Damon as he looked for comfort. This incident played out exactly as what Ezra had feared the most. It dreadfully reminded him of the night Mia passed and how he could never manage to catch a break.

"What's our plan?" Harry asked. "We can't let this play out any further."

"They're going to be cautious about going into town because of the Titus pack, it risks them unnecessary casualties. They'll obviously try to go for Ezra alone again." Damon replied.

"We should ask the pack for help." Harry said.

"Not if you want to owe them afterwards. They'll obviously target Ezra too." Laura expression darkened. "It was only easier for the rogue since Ezra was alone and vulnerable. If we were there with him, then it wouldn't be a problem. We've solved these situations before without help."

"That's somewhat true, but the rogue has a large pack." Lincoln walked in with Cynthia. "We're too small compared to them. Not that I'm suggesting that we're weak, but we're the ones that risk casualties."

"Damon managed to hold several off and now that they know about Ezra we don't have to bother with holding back with his powers. That's more than half the pack gone." Shay stated.

"That's true."

"But the town is still at risk." Harry gloomed.

"We can take the fight elsewhere. Just like Damon said, they're most likely not going to aim for the town because Cain's pack is here."

"We can set up an ambush. Seperate the packs and deal with them in smaller groups."

"You can go to Camara forest. It's not too far and it's a good spot since it's under my jurisdiction. I can assure that no one enters the forest." Harry suggested.

"How sure are we about this?" Tyler nervously asked. "These rogues aren't the same as what we've faced before. I think we should get help."

"No. If anything goes we can retreat to a safe location under Mary's spell and reassess things." Laura replied.

"But this fight...As long as Ezra is fine with it."

Ezra sat up and noticed everyone's gaze. "And if you get hurt?" Ezra said in a weak voice.

"That's a risk we're willing to take."

Ezra let out a deep sigh.

"If anyone is caught...Call out for me. I promise to protect you all."

Cain

November rolled in and the atmosphere at school seemed a lot duller than usual. A few students mentioned the events of the halloween party but the gossip diminished within a few hours. As the final term hit its peak students prioritised exams and sealing their future. Even a few students didn't bother to notice that Ezra had yet to make an appearance at school.

There seemed to be only one student who did notice.

Ever since Cain discovered that Ezra was the god his mood had increased significantly however, he was more than worried about the danger that lurked after the appearance of the rogue king.
