Ezra

Ezra spent hours trying to convince everyone that having Cain by his side was a bad idea. Unfortunately for him, that evening Ezra found himself followed by Cain all the way to his house. It was going to be just them alone as Marcus pulled a few strings to convince Laura to focus on work and get her health back together. As they stood outside, Ezra could barely sense a few wolves near the end of the street.

"Don't worry." Cain drew Ezra's attention back. "They're there to keep a look out. They'll keep us safe."

Ezra sighed before opening the door to the house. Although Cain was beyond excited he waited patiently for every move Ezra made. There was a wave of a familiar scent as soon as Cain walked through the door. Ezra rarely wore his collar at home so it was natural that his scent would be all over the house. Ezra watched awkwardly as he took the sight in.

"It's a very nice home." Cain smiled at Ezra.

Ezra agreed in his head but didn't dare to say anything out loud. He guided Cain up the stairs and into his room. Cain inhaled the smell of the room and it made him feel comforted though to his surprise, he found the boy's room to be quite messy. Cain didn't think of himself as a clean freak but he was always taught to clean after himself. His father trained him like a soldier so it became an instinct for him to always be tidy. Cain took a mental note of this, he knew that he was going to have to break Ezra's habit in the future.

Ezra quickly shoved a few clothes back into the closet while Cain looked around his room. There was a theme of black and red around the room with a few music posters hung on the walls, a desk with busy school work, video game controllers and a big stack of books. Cain picked up the first book to reveal a classic novel.

Cain let out a huff in disbelief. "You read too?"

Ezra looked at Cain confused.

"You play the guitar, you ride a motorcycle and you read classics. I'm just surprised that someone like you can exist."

Cain passed the book to Ezra who gave a small smile. "I admit that I only started reading books like these to impress my girlfriend."

"Mia, right?"

Ezra nodded. "Yea...She loved reading and I wanted to understand all her references. But either way once you start it's actually hard to put a book down afterwards. It's the same for the guitar. I only learnt how to play as a birthday gift to her."

"And did you impress her?"

"Maybe for a few weeks. Afterwards she just thought I got too cocky."

They both chuckled before going silent again.

"You must have loved her. I learned..about how she died...I'm sorry."

"...I just wished that it wasn't so tragic."

Ezra straightened himself up and placed the book back on the pile. It was already dark outside and they already had a late dinner back at the pack house.

"So you'll be sleeping on the couch in the living room-"

"But it's so far from your room. I'm meant to stay by your side."

"It's only a few feet away."

"What if a rogue attacks through your window?"

"You said your pack is keeping watch."
