Chapter 2

Ezra

After hours of class the bell finally rang for lunch.

During his lessons Ezra managed to calm his senses. He went back to his normal self and even though he didn't plan on getting near them, he mentally prepared to defend himself.

He headed towards his group's table which was outside under the big umbrellas where most of the popular kids sat. Since Ezra was a popular student he sat where people expected him to sit even though he was only there because of a few close friends.

His group were full of jocks, cheerleaders and a few other well-known students. Ezra stood out the most from the group, as while jocks wore varsity jackets and had an ego Ezra was seen as the cool boy who wore leather jackets, rode his motorcycle and had a kind personality. He also for some reason had authority over people, it wasn't because they were afraid of him, everyone just saw him as a natural leader.

When Ezra arrived to the table the group all greeted him, he sat down on top of the table next to Chase. The girls were busy chatting away about school while the boys talked about their final matches for soccer.

"Ezra, we're not going to force you to take part this season. Unless, you feel like you're up for it?" Chase asked with hope in his eyes.

The group became quiet after hearing Chase and stared at Ezra with sympathy. Ezra gave a weak smile to his friend.

"Don't worry, I'm always up for soccer. We need to win this season."

One of the cheerleaders quickly changed the subject and brought up the new students. All the girl's faces brightened as they started giggling at each other about the three hot students, while the boys talked about the gorgeous girl.

"They're on an exchange for a month!"

"I heard that they're from the capital."

"Did you see that guy with the blue eyes! He's so hot!"

"The student council keep hogging them."

Chase and Ezra watched the group blankly as the table excitedly went off about the exchange students. They could even hear groups from other tables keenly talking about the new students as well.

"Jesus christ." Chase grumbled. "Just because they look pretty, doesn't mean that they're gods."

"Tell me about it." Ezra rolled his eyes.

"You reckon they'd join the team?"

Ezra instantly tensed. "I hope you're not thinking of inviting them."

"No, No. I was just saying, plus it's too late for them to join. I just wouldn't know how to break the news to them if they wanted to join, ya know."

Ezra placed his arm around Chase and smirked. "Are you nervous? Are you going to have to keep your place in check, captain?"

"Piss off." The two chuckled at each other.

"Look! They're sitting on their own table. We should ask them to join us." A cheerleader exclaimed.

Both Chase and Ezra tensed.

"I don't think that's a good idea." Chase stated.

"Why not? Mr. Johnston told us to welcome them. Plus they must've been totally popular at their other school."

"How would you know that?"

"Cause they're all super gorgeous!"

"Right...Well Ezra doesn't want them to join us either."
