Chapter Six: The Deal

It's been two weeks since Peeta and I made our deal which I'm starting to have regrets with, what if I open up about Robert? Because he'll definitely run and never look back, all of my old friends did. I honestly don't know why I'm like this towards Peeta.... maybe it's because he's a nice and genuine guy or maybe it's because he actually wants to know about my past but even though he may be doing those things.... I push him away just the same although I have days where I wonder what it'd be like if Peeta was my boyfriend? I wonder if maybe that he's the one to fix me but there's always something that stops me.... fear and it always will.

After getting dressed I walk into my bathroom and take my medication for the day, for once I actually feel okay for a day even though I did have a nightmare, I usually hold on to these kind of days because these are the days where it'll be much more enjoyable than others but I rarely have these kind of days anyway so I try to make them as good as I can. I make my way downstairs and sit with my family at the table for breakfast, I have my favourite cereal from when I was five which is Lucky Charms and still at eighteen I'm still in love with them

"So Primmy are you going trick or treating?" My dad asks Prim but she just groans

"Daaaaaaad, I'm fourteen. Fourteen year olds don't go to trick or treating, we go to parties. And I've been meaning to ask you...." Prim trails off but my dad scoffs

"There's no way that my daughter is going to a Halloween party" my dad scoffs

"Then why does Katniss get to one!" Prim whines but immediately covers her mouth, my dad wasn't meant to know that

"She's not. I don't care who's going, your both staying here where I can keep an eye on you" my dad sternly says making me huff in my seat and cross my arms, great, I'm eighteen and I don't get to go to my own party

"Oh come on Liam, let the girls be. They just want to have fun besides it's been a while since we've been a lone" my mom replies which I almost vomit at but still thankful that my mom is able to change my dad's mind just like that, I hope I have that one day....

"Fine, you two can go but I want you straight back home. 12 am the latest" he replies, both Prim and I give each other a happy grin and we hug our mom and dad, once Prim happily runs up the stairs my dad stops me

"You know the rule about drinking?" My dad warns me

"Yes. Only two drinks" I reply with a small smile

"That's my girl" he chuckles, I kiss his cheek before getting my things and leaving out the door where I start walking to school.

"Oh my god really?! I thought you wouldn't have came!" Madge squeals

"Well I thought that maybe I should cause I've never been to a party before. Wait are we dressing up in costumes?" I ask

"No, well we're not but others can if they want" she answers and I sigh with relief because my dad would not have let me out of the house in the costumes Madge suggested we go in

"So who's house is it at again?" I ask

"Do you know that guy Thom?" She says and I nod

"It's at his house" she replies

"Oh god.... he's the one who asked me out on my first day" I groan

"Yeah but he's pretty hot though, you've got to admit that" Madge replies and both Peeta and Gale scoff

"That guy is nothing but an ass and liar. He sleeps with one girl then says he'll call her while literally sleeping with another" Peeta states

"I agree, he's an ass. He doesn't deserve his good looks" Gale agrees, Madge and I look at each other weirdly

"What's gotten into you two?" Madge asks

"Nothing, just looking out for both of you. We don't want him forcing you into something you don't want to do" Peeta replies but he notices as I flinch at those words, he looks extremely confused but luckily the bell went before he could say anything, talk about saved by the bell.

Annie, Madge and I all get dressed in our gym uniform which is my least favourite subject in school, can't we just sleep? Or like go home? Because I'm not a very sporty person. As I tie my shoes on I can hear Delly talking to her friend but I really don't like what she's talking about

"So your planning on sleeping with Peeta at the party?" I hear her friend ask

"Yep and I know he'll say yes because I have this perfect costume that'll for sure turn him on" she giggles

"But what about her, he's like in love with her" even though I have my back to them I know that 'her' is me

"Who cares, she'll never date him. She's scared of commitment, he's not waiting forever and plus he's a guy and a virgin so obviously I can turn him on just like that" I hear Dellys reply

"You know if your thinking that you're sleeping with my brother, you've got no chance" Madge snaps at her, I try to tell her to be quiet but obviously she doesn't

"Oh and by the way Katniss isn't scared. She's just not in the right place to date right now, she's not some kind of slut like you" Madge adds and this of course offends Delly and she walks out with her friend

"Jeez, Madge you're really scary when you're angry" I admit

"I know, it's my gift" she smirks as we walk out of the girls change rooms and join our class in the gym where we find out that we're playing basketball and guess who the team captains are, me and Peeta, so it turns out I get Madge on my team but Peeta gets Annie and so I have to be stuck with Delly who immediately wants to be benched but I don't complain because I'd rather her not play

"I can tell my team to go easy on you Everdeen because we don't want to hurt anyone of you" Peeta smirks as we both get into the inner ring

"No because you're going down Mellark" I reply with the same smirk

"Okay then, my the game begin" he replies and so it does. My team lose a little at the start but by the end of our first game we're not that far from Peeta's team score, I must admit that Peeta is really good at basketball for a person who has a prosthetic leg, he just keeps surprising me each day. I watch as Delly tries talking to Peeta and giggles whenever he replies with a smile but for some reason a tinge of jealousy runs through my veins and I don't know why but it's annoying so I start getting into serious mode, I'm going to show him that I can win and that I always will, even our little deal.

Just like I thought, my team won but it doesn't make me feel any better because I need Peeta to admit it to me, I need him to tell me that he lost against me and that I'm better than him. Just as I go to leave the gym after getting dressed Peeta finally comes up to me

"Well I lost. I never knew you could play basketball" he says

"Yeah well my cousin Johanna and I would play it all the time when we use to be close. It all came to me when we started playing" I reply

"Well it was amazing. I've never seen a girl other than Madge play as good as you did. Good game" he chuckles and I smile then we both walk to lunch together, laughing as we talk about how funny it was seeing Delly trying to run and dribble the ball at the same time.
