Chapter Nine: Girls Night

I can feel it.... my walls are starting to crack thanks to Mr Peeta Mellark, I was perfectly fine with my never ending brick wall that was unbreakable but Peeta is managing to put cracks into it. Slowly I'm starting to open up to him but only a little although I feel Peeta is always one step ahead of me and I don't like that, he's too close at knowing about Robert, I remember now how I almost told him in his car outside Thoms party, it was the only time I was happy that I vomited because if I hadn't Peeta would've found out and left me at that party but the good thing is that I didn't tell him anything so I'm still in the clean but that hasn't stopped Peeta from being so kind to me, defending me against other girls who like calling me names, sending me texts when I'm having one of my awful days and sometimes even comes over to cheer me up, I wish he'd stop because it's making it harder to resist because now I think I'd be extremely heart broken if Peeta disowned me completely.... it'd make my life a living hell and I must be stronger than this.

"Katniss, did you hear what I said?" Annie asks

"What?" I say

"I said would you ever get a tattoo?" She repeats and I shrug in response

"I would, I'm going to get a lily on my waist" Madge says

"I would get a dolphin on my wrist" Annie giggles

"I don't know if I'd get one, I was never a tattoo person but I don't mind small ones" I reply

"Can I ask you a personal question?" Annie asks and hesitantly nod slowly

"How did you get your depression? You never said how it came" she says, instantly I feel my palms getting sweaty, why is it like a sauna in here?

"It's okay. You don't have to say anything, I'm sorry for bringing it up" Annie frowns, I look at her and see that she's genuinely sorry, I look to Madge who gives me a small smile

"I'll tell you but you might see me differently, you might see me as a slut or something" I reply, Annie waits patiently

"That day after my sixteenth birthday.... I was raped by my dad's best friend" I explain to Annie the entire story surprisingly without crying, when I'm finished for a second I feel like she was going to call me awful names but instead she pulls me into a hug

"I don't see you differently, I don't see you as a slut or something. You're the same Katniss, you've just been through a lot" she replies as Madge joins the hug

"I'm so happy that you understand" I sigh with a smile as we break away

"Of course I would. You were a victim, just know that I'm here for you" Annie says and I nod, luckily we're able to forget about it and Annie tells me how her and Finnick started dating, they were friends at first but he asked her out after taking her to a fancy sea side restaurant and then after to the beach which is where he asked but when she tells me I just can't get enough of it, they're both so in love.... they're the kind of couple you know will be together till the end which just makes your heart warm up.

Like every other typical sleepovers, girls order pizza but not us.... we decide on ordering Chinese that we eat while watching a horror movie, Prim joined in and right now is hugging her cat Buttercup for dear life whenever she feels a jump scare coming, Buttercup lays in her arms purring and comforting her, I don't know why but I've always hated that cat.... ever since it was a stupid kitten.

"Wait.... is Eleven actually gone?" Madge asks as we walk up the stairs, we've just had a Stranger Things marathon and it was all a lot to process, there better be a season two, there's got to be on how it ended

"I hope not, she's like the main character that everyone loves" Annie whines as I shut my bedroom door

"But chief Hopper put those waffles and container in the box that was in the woods" I say as we sit around

"I think she's still alive. I swear a season two better happen" Madge states making both Annie and I giggle, we all talk a little longer before we decide to go to bed, I go to sleep with a smile because I have the greatest friends ever but of course that doesn't stop me from having my usual nightmare of Robert.

The next morning I realise that Madge and Annie aren't in their sleeping bags, I make my way downstairs where I hear lots of talking. I walk into the dining room where my mom has made pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, it's like a fricken buffet in here

"Hey sleepy head. Annie and I were just about to jump on your bed to wake you up" Madge giggles as I sit down, I give them a smile and grab a plate so I can fill it with my moms delicious breakfast

"So how are you girls enjoying the sleepover?" My dad asks

"It's amazing, it's so much fun hanging out with just us girls" Annie replies

"I agree. I hate hanging out with Peeta so much, we already live with each other" Madge complains

"I always thought he was a great boy" my dad replies

"He is but he is my older brother and so he tends to get on my nerves sometimes" Madge says

"Well whenever siblings are giving you both trouble you're always welcome to spend a night or two here" he tells my two friends, wow, they sure do know how to leave a great impression on parents. The morning goes on and my two friends get to know my family more, my dad gets happier as they laugh at his dad jokes because Prim and I just complain to him that his dad jokes aren't funny at all but he's come up with new ones that we laugh at because you can tell that he's trying too hard to be funny.
