"Tell me what he was like again, tell me what the prince of Atlanta was like!" Hazel said cheerfully with a dreamy look on her face. A Silly Grin splattered on her face not able to come off.
I give a sly smile, I am always happy to see Hazel smile but, there was something off about that grin it scared me. "Well, Hazel he had dark black hair, and sea green eyes-"
"No, I meant what was he like, was he pleasurable, was he nefarious, was he-" I stop her putting a hand over her mouth as I hear loud footsteps forming outside the door.
Hazel put her hands up to her mouth and pulled my hand off. She frowned at me, I knew that she wanted to know more.
I roll my eyes.
She looks down and forms into a pout. I sigh, I am not dealing with this today.
I put my mouth to her ears and whisper quietly, " Hazel, what about this, he believed that everyone should be treated equally and fairly, no matter if they were royalty or beggars."
She looked at me with admiration but, I knew it wasn't at me it was for the prince. Her stern, hopeful face cracks as it burst out in laughter.
"Well, now we know that we won't be in debt anymore because I am looking at the future queen of Atlanta!" She giggled, suddenly her face fell "You will pay my debt too would you?"
I rolled my eyes, I guess this is what I get for telling a little kid about my night with the prince.
"I am sorry hazel, the prince doesn't love me. We just happened to meet- I am sorry for getting your hopes up, "
She frowned and went back to work on her dress.
I poke her playfully in the check "If I ever become rich than I promise that I will pay your debt too."
She turned around with a big grin and she rose up her pinky finger sticking in the air like a magical wand"Pinky swear?"
I put my pinky with hers and we intertwine our hands. No pinkies.
"Now my mom won't be mad anymo-" Her sentence was cut off by a sudden slam of a door.
Madam Aphrodite walked in with her chin tilted high and a whip ready in her hands. Her hips swaying side to side as she walked proudly in her new slick dress. She walked through the room her eyes carefully inspecting the dresses strand by strand.
We both held our breath afraid of getting in trouble as she walked towards us. She walked over to us and walked up to the dress that Hazel was currently working on.
She took out her whip and faced the butt of the whip towards Hazel. She walked closer towards her and help up Hazel's chin with the butt of her whip.
"You stupid useless child, this dress is made out of the finest fabric imported from China and this is how you treat it?!" I look at the dress it was nicely made and she still thought that it was despicable.
She turns her eyes back to me as she catches me staring. "You filthy peasant, you were supposed to make matching sandals, and no I don't see matching sandals so, GET TO WORK NOW!"
She walked closer to me and looked down at my hands which were shaking with anger the way she treated Hazel.
"Now you, I have not even started to what you need to- " She was interrupted by a blow of a horn from outside.
"The Highnesses are here!" Screamed a voice from outside. I couldn't decided if it was in fear or respect. Maybe even a mix of both.
Madam Aphrodite scowled "Well then, I will get rid of you later but, for now, all employees must go to the podium, no matter how poor"
She spat out the last word as if it was garbage or poison that she was desperate to get rid of.
She walked out of the room and slammed the door against the hard wooden frame.
Hazel looked up at me mad "She can't treat us like that, especially the future queen of Atlanta" Hazel huffed and left the room from the back door stomping her feet with each step. Heading to the makeshift podium outside.
I followed behind her still storming in anger, trying to keep it hiding down.
When we got to the podium a crowd was already forming outside. We took a stand in the back. I look up to see the King step out the carriage and- Percy.
They took a stand on the stage as the king started his speech "As citizens of Atlanta you all must..." I quickly lost interest into the king when I noticed a pair of sea green eyes look right into my eyes, I could almost feel a connection between me and the prince.
I look away as I realized that I must be stupid, knowing that he is the heir of Atlanta when I was a Nobody, just like I will always be.
When the speech finished the King and Prince hastily left the stage as they headed back to their carriage. The prince turned around and looked at me one last time, I turned around heading back to the shop.
I felt a pair of hands grab me on the shoulders, I turn around and looked into his perfect sea green eyes.
"Meet me at the same place as yesterday, tonight" he whispered to me and left.
"Whatever your highness" I role my eyes and said a little too loud. Or maybe it was the annoyance hidden in my voice that made him notice.
He turned around and tilted his head to one side. "Call me Percy, my friends call me Percy." He ran to the carriage and joined his dad. Even from here I could see a frown form on his dad's face.
Wait. Did he do something for me that got him in trouble?!
"No that's impossible" I told myself out loud. "Remember that he doesn't love you"
