I woke up to a blinding light cracking through my curtains

I woke up to a blinding light cracking through my curtains. I put many hands up to block the sun from my eyes. My mind re-watched what happened last night. I don't get it after all that a told him, after all of what I did, he still treats my kindly like those things never happened.

I smile to myself, "I think I want him, I want Perseus Jackson" I stick out my hand as if grabbing his name out of the air.

"Perseus Jackson, Percy" His name feels so natural on my tongue, I want more. I close my eyes and think of all his details, from every strand of hair to his striking eyes. I open my eyes again and reality flushed over me. He's a prince, I'm a pauper, we are not meant to be for each other. I pushed him away and concentrated on something else. Push my blanket off of me as the cold air settles on my body. I walk over to my small cracked window looking out to big Billy, as I could kind of make out the time.

"6:50" The big clock added up to. I sigh, I still have 10 minutes to get ready and get to the other side of town. I sit down on the hardwood floor and lie my back against the stone walls. I still have a while to think, I close my eyes and relaxed. I felt my gut tugging me to get up and get to work, I soothe myself "I still have ten minutes." It hit me, I still had 10 minutes to get ready! I stumble up and quickly look out at the clock, great 7 minutes left. I change into my only pair of morning clothes and quickly head out of my room.

I tumble down the stairs as I hear the quiet snoring of my steps. I roll my eyes, at least someone has a good time doing their "Beauty sleep". I creak open the front door not wanting to wake them up. What am I thinking?! I don't want to treat them kindly. I slither out of the front door not wanting to make a noise, I reach my hand out to the door handle. The door and the wall slammed together into a satisfactory pound. I run off, knowing that I don't have time to be here for the aftershock.

My legs pound as my feet hit the cobbled path of town. I turn around to see the village despairing farther and farther away. I keep running happy, knowing the expressions of my stepmother and sister. I get lost in my thoughts as I fell an impact on my body.

"I don't have time for this" I mumble under my breath. I look up to see a familiar pair of blue eyes, on that I haven't been thinking of recently.

"Luke? Is that you?" I ask him in disbelief.

He grins his signature mischievous smile back at me " As stunning as ever, Annabeth."

I blush, my hands automatically go to my hair as I smooth it out. "How are you, Luke?"

"Fine, I just got accepted as one of the castle guards," He shrugged "I need some extra money for my mom"

Luke and I ran away from home when we were little, I met him and another girl, Thiala outside of Valdez' Machines and soup Café. We got together and started traveling together watching each other's back. We lived like that for a couple months living off of scraps from other people's dinners. One day we weren't as careful and someone turned us in. They sent us to different homes, to our "families". I haven't seen him since but, I never stopped thinking about his blue eyes and his blonde hair, his ability to pick any lock. I never stopped thinking about Thalia's short black hair and her lightning eyes. Until recently when I met someone else.
